This reviewer did a good job of describing a Dennis DeYoung concert in my view. Thanks for the link, Sadie.

I'm not sure I agree that his solo songs don't stand up, but all in all, this reviewer really did a very good job of capturing what Dennis' appeal as a performer is all about. Interesting, isn't it, that after all these years he's getting some of the best reviews he's ever gotten. Styx, too, for the most part gets decent reviews. I think the older critics who hated them all finally died, LOL, and now the people writing the reviews are young enough to appreciate the band.

Agree about the assessment of his solo stuff. I think the solo material he performs in concert now is wonderful. I think the reviewer may simply not be plugged into it. However, for the most part, the reviewer was positive, caught the point of the humor, and, most of all, cut to the chase on that amazing voice and all that it can do.

I think there are many reviewers who are, frankly, stunned at the vocal power of a 61 year old guy. He certainly never ceases to amaze me.
