Last Two Weeks of Hunchback in Chicago Cancelled

Due to flooding at the Bailiwick, they're forced to end the run early. The only reason I know is that they called me since I had tickets for the 30th. So unless you see it this week (and I assume some sets/staging may be affected), who knows when you'll see Hunchback again.

I didn't think to ask. I'm bummed, but such is life. I'll have a good weekend in Chicago no matter what.

A music note . . .

Former Styx lead singer Dennis DeYoung personally conducted the musicians during the performance of his show, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," at the Bailiwick Repertory Theatre Sunday night.

• • Up in arms: DeYoung, who also wrote the music and lyrics for the show, told the audience, "My arms are tired," after the performance.

• • P.S.: DeYoung, a Chicago native, graduated from Harlan High School in 1965.

Sounds like a nice way of saying slow sales!

Gee, how predictable. Maybe this will open your conspiratorial mind:

How can you still have shows if the theatre is flooded? I'm not passing judgement but either the theatre is flooded and the show can't go on or it's not. If the theatre is partially flooded, does that mean you have to wear a snorkel and fins to see the show?

Now there is absolutely no excuse not to release 100 Years....Get to work!

This is a good deduction - how can you have it now and not have it later in the month? That makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever..

I'm going to make a leap here. Obviously the show was selling well enough to be extended in the first place. The theater may be able to meet the shows for the time period specified and may have to close to make repairs. Having survived 2 floods that severely impacted homes I was living in, we could still live in the homes but there were repairs that needed to be made that took some time and coordination. But feel free to think whatever you wish.

Peace

Yep...because it's completely up to him. While I agree he has made decisions that were truly bad career wise, I just don't get the anger at a product that will only include 2 new songs and is available rather easily and without great expense already.

Yeah.... some people have the same douchebag response no matter what you say. Speaking as one of the former, I have experience in knowing it when I see it :)

Well, I'm going Friday night. Made last minute plans.
