I saw this show on Saturday night. I was surprised at the size of the venue, it was very small, but it seems like the casino shows are becoming more and more popular, too bad for me, I hate casinos. The most surprising thing all night was the fact that they started ON TIME!! Styx was on stage and playing at 8:00 sharp. The set list was the same as they have been playing, nothing new there. I never get tired of seeing them play so of course I thought it was great, they put a lot of energy into their shows and do their best to give the audience their money's worth. I would love to put a wad of gum in that revolving keyboard.. that gets on my nerves!! Chuck was there and was looking very fit and handsome. Tommy looks like he's wasting away, I think he needs to eat a cookie or two. The venue was like a very very large meeting room like you see at hotels suprisingly the sound was very good, but I was up in second row so maybe that was part of why it sounded as good as it did. No one seemed to mind all of the cameras so we took about 150 - 200 pictures.
I was very surprised with Boson, it was a much better show than I anticipated. I had read a lot of reviews that put down the newest singer, but he did very well and was all over the stage. They did acknowlege he was "on loan" from Home Depot. Aside from Tom Scholz, Michael Sweet was the star of the show, his voice is great and he's a showman. Tom Scholz was stationary and playing with a big knee brace on, but this line up captured the Boston sound remarkably well, better than I thought it would be. I never saw the original line up but have always been a fan, Third Stage being the only album I've ever stood in line to buy on the day of release.
All in all it was a very good weekend for concerts as I was able to take in the Dokken/Poison show in Pittsburgh on Sunday... also a much better show than I thought it would be.
