I know this has come up before, but I was just playing "Double Life" the other day, and I can't believe what a catchy song it is. The guys really sound great on the chorus.. It's funny how Tommy and J.Y. were both so unhappy with "Kilroy"; yet, I can't help but feeling that they both contributed some of the better songs on the album, lol.
I actually haven't checked the songwriting credits in a while, but I'm assuming J.Y. wrote "DL" on his own? Has anyone ever heard anything about what inspired the song? So, Tommy wrote "Fooling Yourself" with Dennis in mind; is it possible that J.Y. wrote "DL" with Chuck in mind? Just a thought.

I always thought DL was written to try to fit into the theme of Kilroy. Perhaps it was written reluctantly, but it sure turned out to be one of the best songs on the album.

The JYG performed it as an acoustic number, and it was FABULOUS. I miss those tours. *sigh*

I saw an article many many years ago, where JY was talking about the song. He went into detail how in the late 70's (or was early 80's) that there was someone parading around as him. Ran up bills, got a lot of press and such...They finally caught him, and he did jail time. But the article went on to say that Double Life was about that, and was used on the Kilroy cd, because it fit in with the theme.
Whatever the case, it is a very good song, with some of JY's best lyrics.

you were at the very same show as zan all those years ago? imagine that! it's unfortunate this bb didn't exist back then. you could've gotten quite a big jump start on your zan obsession.
