Anyone going to see it Friday ?
Oliver Stone the Director had earmarked Tom Hanks for the lead role but changed his mind when he feared the paying public would think they were watching Forrest Gump 2

I found JFK entertaining, from a fantasy stand point. To bad really, if you stick to mostly the facts you have an incredible story. An assassination on a sitting president, doubt on the Warren Commission, the only actual court case to go to trial. Why Oliver Stone has to inject the Donald Southerland character (Mr X) in the movie, plus some of the other fiction is beyond me, it was really unecessary and turned a lot of people off to the subject matter. I saw a scene from this movie, where Cheney and Bush are having a private conversation that turns comical with Bush not even knowing how to pronounce anything he is saying. Now if this movie tries to invoke some realism, how did Stone get any of this supposed conversation. Or like JFK, is he willing to concede that most of the movie is bullshit.

Stone is a pompous asshole. His movies are incredibly unfair, regardless of who he's depicting, Democrat or Republican. Fuck him.

movies are for entertainment.....that said, I wish he would have waited until February to release this. I'm no fan of Bush, but it just doesnt seem right to put this movie out while he is still our president.

i loved his take on "the doors." sure, parts of it were fabricated, but he captured the essence and spirit of morrison & the band beautifully. platoon doesn['t suck either.

I saw the Doors. I remember the infamous Miami concert scene when Jim changed the words around on "Come on Come on now touch me baby" to "Come on Come on now suck me baby". Speaking of which, was it actually an urban legend that big Jim always had a boner on stage, I mean I don't remember Viagra being around back then? By the way Touch me is one of the best songs ever recorded by anybody, I prefer it to LA Woman and Light my fire.

Wow, different strokes huh. I never thought of touch me as a ballad or over the top commercial.

"Touch Me" makes me think of Chicago, or Blood Sweat & Tears; I guess maybe more Blood Sweat & Tears. It doesn't come across nearly as corny though; good song. With Jim's somewhat tongue in cheek performance, it's almost like they were poking fun at some of those groups of the day.

The original name of that song was "Hit Me'". Robbie Krieger wrote it after a fight with his girlfriend.

wow- didn't know that. LOL guess the radio stations and public might have had a prob with Hit Me lol. (although, pat benAtar and brittney did pretty well...)
i just can't stand the schmaltzy strings and horns in the song. (just like i hate the keyboards in babe- and just the way you are, for that matter) very un-doors sounding and contrived. all 3 songs sound like they were performed by a wedding or bar mitzva band. IMO
