When put in context of this writer's definition of self indulgent, I don't consider it a bad thing if an album you like makes this list. Again, according to his definition a few others that should have definately made the cut are/were: Houses of the Holy, the Wall, Animals, Sgt Pepper, Tusk, Goodbye Yellowbrick Road, side two of Abbey Road, Around the World in a Day, and almost anything from Alan Parson's.

Once again, Styx in good company. EVERY album is self-indulgent, if you really think about it! :D

Yeah, can't blame McCartney for being pissed when somebody referred to the White Album as self indulgent. Isn't the opposite of self indulgent in the music business being a sell out. Writing and recording music that you don't paticularly care for, but you know will sell? Damn critics, can't please any of them unless you are Dylan, Springsteen or some obscure act that does not sell any records. Speaking of the Boss, wasn't his Nebraska LP a little self indulgent?
