Styx & Special Guest for $8.75

Postby MCM » Mon Jan 05, 2009 11:49 am

Found this clipping in a file folder of magazine clippings. It looks like I must have had this taped on the wall at one time. It's from a Pittsburgh paper, but I don't know the year or who the special guest may have been.

I'm getting a chuckle out of all the crazy clippings I've found in this folder.

I'll have to look through my promo shots, but somewhere between 77 and 81.

Those are the headshots from grand Illusion. I'd venture a guess that it wasn't after 1978.

I guess I should have added that my brother must have sent me the clipping for my collection and he didn't move to Pgh until he went to college in the fall of 77. I thought they were the promo shots for GI.

My original post said GI (and given the logo, makes sense), but I didn't want to be wrong :P

Not to be contrary, folks, but aren't those actually the shots from 'Cornerstone'? Sure looks like it to me.

Happy New Year!

Yes, those are from the Cornerstone album. I only know because I just listened to it last night.

So I guess that means it's from 1979.

Considering the way Gowan sounds all the time and the way Shaw sounds during the second half of shows, $8.75 is what they should be charging now.

The opening act for the Kenny Loggins show, Sniff 'N The Tears, had their one hit ("Driver's Seat") in 1979 so that sounds right.

Wow, I thought I knew some obscure music trivia! LOL. I've never even heard of that.

I hope all is well.
