Is anyone here going to the show this Saterday night? I am excited it has been a year since I have had time to catch them. I expect it to be a great show as always but I have shit seats instead of up close and personal. Well what I am getting at is, does anyone want to meet at the bar for a drink?

Hey Froy- Aren't u a musician? I forget why, but something makes me think you are.
If so, I cannot understand how you can not dig Gowan's playing. The guy's a monster keyboard player. I get the vocal thing as that can be subjective, but his playing is top-notch.

He is an amazing keyboard player. Todd is an amazing drummer, probably the best out there today.

I will be there with my wife. We sprang (sprung?) for VIP tickets. We haven't seen the band since Oct '07. We are looking forward to it.
Last I looked, there were still a few tickets available.

We saw a great show Saturday night.
They have changed up the setlist.
No new material that I recall.
They opened with the intro to Put Me On and then went into Miss America. There might have been something else in there. We were walking in as they started, so I am not sure. Correct me if I am wrong.
The encore was BCM a drum solo and Renegade.
We had so much fun that we bought tickets to the show at the Crystal Grand in The Wisconsin Dells in April.
Encore

They now have Blue Collar Man AND Renegade in the encore??
They're starting to sound more and more like the Tommy Shaw Band!
When are they going to start playing "Girls with Guns"???!!!

Sorry some of you missed it but it was a great show as always! and no it was not the Tommy Shaw band!!!!!!
Chuck was there but looking a touch stiff and we talked to him after the show and he acted like he was not feeling
well. We tryed to talk to JY and see how his wife was doing but he didn't have time to talk or pose for pictures.
If anyone has any questions about seeing a show at the Star Plaza don't worry, the sound and seating was
outstanding. Also this is an adult place to see a show so there was plenty of liquor flowing but not a drunk kid in sight!
The security was lacking so we moved from about the 18th row to the 1st row in front of Tommy and JY. They did mention that they would be out this summer with someone we would all like so I am guessing REO like mentioned on this site earlier. I could do without Kevin's monologues but they still sound great so I will be catching both again this summer.
If I can find a driver to download my cell pictures I will post them later this week!

You said nothing about it other then you took photos got drunk and stalked the band.
Not one word about anything else.
Keep up the good reviews

WOW! I never thought I would see the band at least change things up. I am so glad to hear that.
Here is a video someone posted of the opening from IN.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ykpMLdq ... annel_page
I believe that the intro began with Light Up & then Put Me On! Regardless, I LOVE that they are spicing things up, and I LOVE the new opening (it combines some of the greatest Styx intros in my mind.)
Now it REALLY want to see them again!
You have to hand it to this line-up, musically, they kick ass. Light Up sounded dead on!

Yeah.. Like Dennis has really changed up his setlist the last few years now hasn't he?
As for the liqour flowing bit.. I've been to plenty of shows where I've been sober but the people around me were absolutely tanked and the bar was busy.. Styx with Bad Co, George Thorogood, AC/DC, Four Horsemen, Guns N Roses, Metallica..
So there

Yep he sure has
The orchestra show adds songs and The rock thing gets switched all the time
At least Dennis sounds good on Stage
Styx is horrendous..
Gowan is playing a sampled board
Gee what a wizard

That's called a blackout

Froy.
Why do you read reviews of a band you say you hate? I know I'm beating my head against a brick wall, but let us who enjoy this version of Styx have a good time at the show. When we want to hear your shit about how Dennis should be back in the band and they'd be filling up Yankee Stadium, we'll ask you.

Because you put them in front of me like a bait deal
Why do you read what I post?
You want to follow JY around go ahead
Not Styx never will be again
That band has no identity at all
There all running around without out a clue.
They start the show with a tape of light up then into a great song Put Me on and they cut it for the crap Miss America
You really think that was smart?
Dumb if you ask me
Play the entire song,
I know I'm beating my head against a brick wall, but let us who enjoy this version of Styx have a good time at the show.
No I won't
Because this is not a version of Styx
Its James Young and Shaw two crooks who freakin killed a great band
They should be jailed for this travesty
Gowan looks like a poor sap up there I feel sorry for the guy
10 years in a band he has no right being in and he stays there and kills it even more.
What a jerk.

Who cares anymore
Dennis is STYX period
The game is over has been for 10 years.

Yes, you might very likely be correct. However, the same songs, in the same order really made the show stale in my mind. At the very least, they could rearrange the songs, like they did. I never thought we'd get this much (let alone a new intro.) I'm not saying the bar was high to make me happy, unfortunately.

Sorry Froy I did not know I was doing the review. I just thought I was chatting. You are just upset that you did not go with us! This summer you will have to go with us and have fun.
They played all the staples of their repertoire, Grand Illusion, Foolin Yourself, Lady, Ms America,Renegade, and my personal favorites Crystal Ball and One with Everything. They sounded outstanding and they worked the stage like
the great performers that they are making sure that both sides of the crowd
got to see everyone up close. Todd was a crazy man on the drums as always playing a great drum solo
during the encore.
Totally a great show that everyone should see atleast once a year!

Nope, just that it was available for those who wanted it. Actually I am too old to waste a good concert by being drunk,
that was when I was younger and didn't know any better. Also the bartenders were girls and I don't play for that team so I watched Tommy and JY instead.
