Gowan "The Good Catches Up"

Postby brywool » Wed Mar 11, 2009 6:22 am

Anybody heard this album. Most of it is really really good. Wish more of his solo albums were like this.

"The Good Catches Up" is a great song. "Guns and God" is also a great song.

Both would've made good Styx tunes.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

well, I expected you to post, but not looking for a fight. You should check out both of those tunes. Very cool. The Good Catches Up is especially good. I figure, since these are outside of Styx, maybe you could actually give them a chance young man.

;)

Some of Gowan's work, IMO, is hit and miss. He does have a few great songs but a lot of it just doesn't interest me 8)

It is hit and miss, definitely, but the ones that're good are really good. The ones that're bad, are pretty bad (Cyberbabes- WHAT was he thinking???)

I have been a fan of Gowan's since "Criminal Mind" came out back in the 80s! In fact, I am unhappy that he is in Styx because it means that he has stopped his solo career! I also do not feel that he really added much to Styx. I will admit that I have been disappointed by his contributions to "Cyclorama" as they do not match up to some of his great solo moments:

1. A Criminal Mind
2. Guerilla Soldier
3. Cosmetics
4. Moonlight Desires
5. Out Of A Deeper Hunger
6. When There's Time For love
7. The Good Catches Up
8. Cry On My Shoulder
9. Soul's Road
10. Lost Brotherhood

I agree it's time for him to go back to that huge solo career he had
Styx is a let down for him
Gowan get lost

Well Froy if you feel so passionately why don't you try after Styx plays near you to try and meet Mr. Gowan and tell him this yourself? It must not be healthy for you to keep all this anger in. Let him know how you feel..

Oh wait, you wouldn't have the balls to say what you say on here to him face to face.

Melodic Rock Extra had the Gowan greatest hits package for download, which I did. After hearing it, The Good Catches Up was the only song that stuck out for me. It is a great song though. Personally, his work in Styx is alot better than his solo work. Perhaps he's a better collaborator?
