A pleasant surprise made its way into my mailbox after a very crappy week. I'll most likely post an official review/compare-contrast with the Canadian version within the week. Just popped it on after coming home.

For those into minutiae, Jimmy Leahey is credited on the US version as playing electric and acoustic guitars (along with others); don't remember him being credited on the Canadian, so it's probably on the two new tracks.

I am really interested in an audiophile's take on the differences in the two albums.

The mastering job is definitely different. Whether I have the final master I can't say for sure but I bet I do.

I missed the conclusion of the hub bub as to who DDY's duet partner was going to be on the American release. Who is it?

I can imagine....mmmmmm...let's see......I see a cd that sells about 50-75,000 copies (maybe) and a tour that draws an average of 2,500-3,000 a night. And most of those tickets are sold based on a curiosity of seeing them back together again. Dream on dreamer.

Alright so some of you in the know (Sterling/Alan/Zan), what happened to the duet partner? Does anyone think that DDY gave Perry a shot? It seemed like when somebody suggeted that at Suzanne's crib, she thought it was wonderful idea.

Do you really think they were ever going to go the Perry route? I think their goal would have been to replicate the Canadian route by choosing someone that can propel the song to the charts. IMO, when they could not find someone with the name they were looking for or could not find someone who had time to do it in the release timeline, Dennis decided to do it on his own.

I read all of the pre-press hype "really rocks" "best work he has done since STYX"

But this guy has really lost his touch. The songs, the band and the recording are all substandard. The only thing this album has going for it is that Denny has still got his pipes.

I realize the people most likely in this world to like this CD are about half of the people who post on this board.

But really, are the glasses that tinted? Are your heroes that infallible?

100 years is a great CD. Love it and I love Cyclorama.

I have heard that Perry can't sing anymore, but what part of that is rumor and what part true? Who knows. But I bet in the end Dennis simply felt it was better sung by one person . . . a choice I happen to agree is the right one, by the way. It's really from the perspective of one person, it just makes sense to have one person deliver it.
