Iconic rock band set to take stage the morning of Sunday February 21st. 2/3/2010
ShareSan Bernardino County, Calif. (Feb. 3, 2010) – If you’re a race fan, a classic rock fan and have some “time on your hands”, then Auto Club Speedway has some kind of weekend in store for you during the West Coast Premiere of NASCAR weekend.
In addition to NASCAR’s top drivers rocking the house in the Auto Club 500 on Sunday, Feb. 21, legendary rock band STYX will do that same with a pre-race concert performance on the Opportunity, California FanZone main stage that same morning. The band is scheduled to take stage at 10:15 a.m., but fans are encouraged to gather early to see one of the world’s most popular rock bands.
Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Lawrence Gowan, Todd Sucherman, Ricky Phillips and Chuck Panozzo (on occasion), have performed more live since ’99 than all of the previous years of its career combined. Two Super-Bowl appearances, Pollstar Box Office chart-topping tours with Def Leppard, Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon and Bad Company (just to name only a few), two more studio albums with no end in sight, STYX continues to conquer the planet, one venue at a time.
With big hit singles like Too Much Time on My Hands, Blue Collar Man, Come Sail Away and Renegade and classic albums like The Grand Illusion, Pieces of Eight and Cornerstone, one of music’s most enduring acts promises a masterful performance of classic rock hits. www.styxworld.com
To see STYX and be part of the Auto Club 500 Weekend festivities, call 1-800-944-RACE (7223) or visit www.autoclubspeedway.com. Tickets start as low as $35.

And NASCAR, the 2nd most popular sport in America hired them to entertain their audience. And before you dig your hole any deeper, watch the Super Bowl tomorrow.

What is your point?
You want us to believe Styx is so popular because they are playing at a Nascar event?
Yes![]()
They leached the side stage at The Superbowl to make it sound like they were the main act
BIG deal.
Any new music from this great lineup?
Any Gowan tunes on the radio?
Please Chow don't play the game it makes ya look like a fan boy

No my point is not that Styx is so popular that they could draw 60000 fans. But the people that run NASCAR are not stupid. They wouldn't put Styx in front of their cash cow if they were going to embarrass themselves. Just because I don't hate the current version of Styx doesn't make me "fan boy". But... I've been called much worse.

Ah I see Nascar say's Styx is great because they payed them to play.
Was the rodeo smart also when they played there?
How about the Wisconsin Dells Crystal Theater are they smart also.
Bad analogy here .
Its not a matter of hating the current lineuo its a matter of finding a reason to like them.
I can't see a single one

The last new Styx-related content I heard on the Radio was Gowan singing "I am the Walrus". I didn't hear anything from Shaw/Blades or Dennis Deyoung...

The only I am the Walrus I have ever heard on the radio was that of the Beatles. And by the way, I've checked every chart there was - Billboard Mainstream Rock, AC, Pop, Modern Rock, Rock, etc. and the Styx version has never charted anywhere. This is another one of those "made up hits" just like Shooz.
