How would it have (not of, sorry ...) made a difference? He's a little out of place in that lineup. And he's not the type of act to be on a large, multi-bill show. It's not his style. He doesn't need a showcase.
Styx and Journey are more AOR than melodic rock (is Winger melodic? Don't think so; Chalfant? Sure.). Anyway, I guess that genre of music largely holds zero interest for me. No slam on those who will enjoy the shows or like those bands. They just are not my cup of tea. Give me Mingus over Y&T any day. And clearly Andrew wouldn't be doing another show if there was no hope of success; I'm sure it'll be a smash.
My hat is off to him for even trying to do it. Just from having been a part of some small shows I know what goes into concert production, let alone a huge, multi-day, multi-act bill like this one, where coordinating schedules and travel and everything that has to be done is mind-boggling. Add musicians' egos on top of that, I'd rather get my hand caught in a document shredder than take that on, LOL. Andrew's a better man than I am, I'll tell you that right now.
As for Winger, I can't say I was the world's biggest fan, but the new album really IS great, and we had Kip on Long Live Rock a while back and he was an absolute blast. Very funny, very intelligent guy who gets maligned an awful lot, unfairly in my view, because he's just too good-looking for his own good.
I would think Dennis DeYoung's fee would be a bit out of range for this event, more than likely.
