Dennis DeYoung....In Concert...??

Postby TRAGChick » Sun Apr 25, 2010 11:19 am

Hi there all you Styx People... 8)

Normally, I'm upstairs at the Gen. Discussion / Steve Perry / Journey Board.
But...I had to run down a few flights to ask:

 Dennis DeYoung:

According to the Styx BTM on VH1, he had to quit performing because of some sorta "allergic reaction to light".

....Um.... :?

 I JUST SAW HIM IN PERFORMANCE on CT's Channel 13; CPTV ~ Public Television ~ with a BIG ASS ORCHESTRA

HAH.....?

My understanding is that he regained his health enough to tour more. However, he still does not want to tour nearly as much as "official" Styx. I have actually seen him a few times in the past few years, and he puts on a GREAT show. Thank God he was able to return to touring in any capacity.

Interestingly, I am currently at college at Fairfield University, and that exact channel has Dennis on yet again! It's become the 24 hours Styx channel (or close to it).

Dennis was in Troy NY last night. He basically does weekend gigs. He has 3 basic formats show: Symphony, Rock, and Unplugged. He is coming to Torrington CT on June 26 doing the Rock format. You will see the most popular hits of Styx including songs that were sung by Tommy Shaw. It's a great show.

Dennis has overcome much of the light issues. It was a side effect of the flu that just took forever to go away. Basically it is a viral infection that just took its sweet old time to go away. My son had a similar thing happen where his side effect was food alergies. It lasted for 2 years, then one day it was gone.

The show is great. If you like Styx, Dennis will give you the widest range of the hits and Styx with Tommy and JY will give you just the rockers.

And why are you upstairs so much? And, yes, no Journey to argue about, off tour. The Styx forum is much more interesting reading these days.

That is interesting to read that Dennis' Soundstage performance w/orchestra is still being shown on Public TV. That was recorded, what?, six-seven years ago? It is a good one, tho', and I see why they still use it during fundraising time.

StyxfanNH has summed up quite well what is going on both with DDY and with Styx nowadays.

Congratulations! You're still the same.
