New Styx Song "Difference In The World"

Postby Everett » Wed Apr 28, 2010 10:20 am

They released a new song today with that title to styx lounge members and the general pubilc will be able to download it later this week. Not a bad tune actually imo. It's good to see that they are recording/releasing new songs.

Just listened to it for the first time. First impression is that the lyrics are weak, Tommy's voice is in good form, Very nicely produced, and wished there was a place for someone to hear it.

Nice! They've got this and the two songs from CYO. Now they need to write 2-3 more songs and do a studio version of A Criminal Mind. That would be a nice little package. Then add a second disc of all new live recordings.

A record version of everything all the time would be nice to totally agree on a criminal mind as well that would make the song even better

I'm not too impressed with this song, no wonder it is free. I agree that the lyrics are weak, there really isn't a good hook either.

Yeah probably, just kinda sounds like one of those songs that isn't even good enough to be even considered on an album, not even filler material.

I haven't heard this yet, but if it's shit... it's shit! I don't care if it's the only song that's released in 10 years, if it sucks, they shouldn't release it. :? If you'd give me your password I'll get on there asap!!!

I would of been happy if it was actually a good song, this song should not be released. It is even worse than "Just Be"

I think it's better than "Just Be"; not going to rehash my thoughts on that one. It's certainly better than a lot of the Tommy songs on Cyclorama, too. Sounds like he's got a bit of his writing mojo back. "Everything All The Time" was OK at best, and this is also better than that.

To me it sounds more Shaw/Blades than Styx (the harmonies are a dead giveaway), but it's a sign that things are moving in the right direction.

The question for me now is: do we get a physical product, or just crappy MP3s? OK, so it was free, but still ... I would rather pay for some quality.

melody reminds me a lot of XTC's Dear God. i like the verses, but the bridge/chorus don't really go anywhere... and yes, lyrics are a bit weak. Not a bad song, but i agree it needs more of a hook.

Kinda funny.Dennis made a great album and that didn't get him anywhere. It's all a stalemate,so just relax and make the most of it.
