lee is horrible. just further proof that america is deaf and has no taste. did you actually LISTEN to the show yesterday? i'm sure lee is a really nice guy, but he should go back to selling paint. crystal by far was the most talented person this year. chris daughtry, melinda doolittle, adam lambert, and now crystal bowsox. i see a pattern here...

stmonkeys is 100% correct Crystal was BY FAAARRRR the best as was Adam last year.
For me the hero of the night was Bret Michaels. What a frickin stud!!! For him to show up and sing like that is unreal. He's my new music hero. He said this morning of Fox that his doctors did not even know that he was going and he just had to. He is one GREAT American bad as s!!!!!

I think its just further proof that the demographic of the voters are deaf and have no taste or more likely they are voting not based on talent but instead on other factors (tweens and middle aged voting repeatedly over and over based on who is cute, etc.)

We forget we must factor in personal taste. When you have 10/12 people in your final group, you are naturally going to like, or not like, someone based on many factors related to your personal taste. Multiply that by the millions who watch every year.
Thus you always get, so-and-so was ROBBED! He/she is a no-talent!
Trust me, I have felt this way many times, but apparently whoever emerges as winner has something to appeal to someone or they would not survive week-to-week. Do I think the voting can sometimes skew to the ridiculous? Yes. But that is how that show goes.
A few seasons back, the powerful ones who take care of the contestants post-idol, started deciding on their Chosen One and they helped him or her despite who won the contest. Season 5, Chris Daughtry (a derivative, boring performer in my book, but one with an accessible radio voice and then current, popular sound) was simply treated as the winner and that was that. Record deals, promotion, etc., etc.
Adam has been pretty much handled that way because the market right now is into spectacle performance and music. He fits right in, so he has gotten the lion's share of promotion, etc.
I love Adam, so yay for that. I cannot stand Daughtry, so boo to that. My personal taste differs from many others and that is what makes the show interesting and keeps people watching.
That said, this was a really lousy year, for the most part, but, as I always do, I watched -- all the way to the end. My favorites went out really early this time around. I like Crystal. She is nothing special, but by far had the best voice of those final two.

Middle America picks the blandest person every year, year after year . . . and then they go fail, LOL. With the exception of David Cook, who was not bland but still basically failed. AI is a TV show and it caters to TV tastes, which by the very nature of TV are the most dumbed-down tastes in the world. You want good music? Go listen to some struggling musician in your hometown, they need your support more, anyway. AI is about ad revenue, like all mass media.

I'm not trying to be a jerk for saying this, but I watched her performance and I couldn't help but think to myself, 'Has she ALWAYS been that terrible a singer?' Her voice was so weak, and her diction so poor, I couldn't make out a single clear word of her performance. Not that I was ever a huge fan, but my God, I'd have expected better than that at least.

Crystal was GREAT as was Adam a year ago.
I bet if you didnt allow votes from females ages 9-14, the winners the past two years would have been different.
Still for me Bret stole the night. He showed really some grit last night. It may have been courage, ignorance fear, whatever, but he sacked up didnt feel sorry for himself for his many medical problems and showed up and played.
That took courage!!!

This has been his attitude his entire career!! He may not be the
best singer in the world, but he's good, he puts on a fun show, has some fun songs and he treats his
fans with kindness and respect ...he's pretty
ok in the looks dept., too!!

It doesn’t seem like courage to me. It seems like a media stunt as does all of this. Getting up and singing is his job. I am not a Poison fan and never have been, but I have always praised them as a group for their ability to try something new and push the envelope yet staying true to who they are. They put on a great show for their fans and Bret is everything you would want in a front man. Unfortunately, Bret has crossed the line into a publicity grabbing media whore. No better than Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, and many others. The problem is that he really has talent and the others I mentioned do not.
He had an appendectomy and the recovery of this procedure is 4-6 weeks for strenuous activity and his travelling and performing would certainly qualify. He then had a “life threatening” brain hemorrhage and was on his “death bed” and had to relearn to speak. Recovery time for this type of procedure is more really long and some people never fully recover. Then he has a heart issue and is again rushed to the hospital and has a hole in his heart that requires surgery and then while travelling to the Apprentice finale the plane must make an emergency landing to attend to him. This is all overblown bull.
His summer tour starts tomorrow and he has a new reality show debuting. This is all a stunt.
Think of it this way. This summer’s tour is mostly with Skynard and is a big tour. These promoters would not put on a show with someone that was as sick as this man says he is. They would not be able to get insurance on somebody with these conditions and they would be out millions if he cancelled. Too much risk.
As far as AI goes I only saw the Joe Cocker song and the results and that was just from flipping. Lee missed a whole verse of the Joe Cocker song and was visible on camera with the mic at his side. He just forgot it was his part and then his performance of Beautiful Day was awful, but again this is all I have ever seen of this guy and he was probably pretty overwhelmed at that point so I give him a pass.

lol ...Didn't see AI, don't watch The Apprentice ...you
may be correct regarding this
publicity stunt!?!
My comment was in regard to his apparent work ethic, drive and desire to please his fans. Sure, he may
bring a LOT of his problems on himself, e.g.~ I personally think he could do a better job taking care of his
diabetes ...he refuses to let it stand in his way and sometimes he should!! Publicity stunt or not, I
view BM as a good guy and I
do enjoy his music!!

Wow Hollywood, I've been thinking about your post and you could be right. I hope you're wrong, but the way you posted it does sound a little fishy.

I think Janet has always had help in the recording booth, so-to-speak. I really like a lot of her music, but I think she has had plenty of enhancement both in recording and onstage. Idol is one of the places where that is not allowed. No voice alteration, but you can get some help from background singers, who are also live. So, we got to hear the "real" Janet.
Now. As to how she
looked ...

I haven't watched Idol since Season 7, and I'm better off, I think. I did catch the season finale of last year's, and as great as Lambert was, I must admit I preferred Kris' style. Lambert just likes to scream because he can, and his music is strange and show-opera-y. No thanks.
I heard roughly 8.5 second of Crystal singing at the beginning of the season on my local news, and I knew she'd be the one to beat.
