He filmed his part from LA or wherever he was at the time. Basically A&M made him do it and he didn't want any part of it.

Big Baby that's Shaw..

Read my interview with Tommy on the site I did back in '93. He talks about it.

Are you serious?!!!! JY was good, and Dennis was good, but Tommy was just awful in that KILROY thing, and he knew it, which is one of the reasons he hated doing it so much. If you ever get the chance, ask him, he'll tell you straight out he's a terrible actor.

They twisted his arm, basically. He'd already quit the band, and they were filming in LA, and he had a meeting in New York for GWG on the same day, and they said, "Hey Tommy, your solo album is on the same label, if you screw this up it's them you're screwing and it will only hurt you." So he allowed them to set up some "pick up" shots in NYC, and when he went to the studio and saw they wanted him to put his head up through the salad dish he flat out refused to do it. So in the end he's only in the one little scene, kinda waving from the sidelines.

Allan did a great interview with Tommy where he talks about this, it's hysterical http://www.styxcollector.com/intvframe.html It's the interview from 1992, I think it is Part 4.

Tommy waves from the sidelines.. what in the hell was the point of that?

Let me get this straight: Tommy left the band because he didn't agree with DDY's pop friendly direction, but then his first solo outting includes something as teeny bop as "Girls With Guns", but he was too cool for "Music Time"?

I don't know, I dig Tommy, but I do think he screwed the band with his hissy fits, and then he quits.. I mean, he says he wants to rock, but he writes songs like "Never Say Never", "She Cares", "Cold War", "Haven't We Been Here Before", and "Just Get Through This Night"- Some really good songs(save for "Cold War"), but not any cooler than anything DDY was composing at the time. Meanwhile, he stops "First Time" from getting issued, and then fights them on releasing "Haven't We Been Here Before"(a song he wrote and performed). WTF? What, Dennis wouldn't let him write rock songs? Dennis wouldn't put them on the albums? Well it's a good thing TS was able to save all that harder edged material for his solo career. Something else was up with Tommy. I don't know if it was the drugs, the fact that he didn't like sharing the spotlight or what, but it seems like he was just a touch impossible to please.

Do you think Styx would have gotten to were they were with out him? I don't think so. Now I am not saying that he was everything Styx but it was the work of DDY, JY and TS that made Styx what it was. Regardless of what I think about things each member did to cause the band to split, I can still see that TS was an important part to the line up. BTW, they basically did let him walk in "84 didn't they?

I think that "Lonely School" would be a better example of what TS was supposedly wanting to geat away from. More then likely it was his drug abuse that fueled the fire. Maybe other members coaxing him to their side of the DDY thing didn't have the results they expected.

In the movie, JY and Tommy were good. Dennis was really terrible. In the concert, Tommy was Terrible, Dennis was better and JY was hilarious.
The whole scene where Dennis is talking to the Roboto is really bad. Still, a cool movie.

He is a CLASSIC BABY. If he doesn't get his way, he either a) threatens to quit or b) quits altogether... Should have replaced him in 84 and recorded a new album then.

He quit when the record company wanted First Time out, He quit when he was stoned on coke right during a show, He also was quitting when he did not get his way after Dennis's was sick and asked for a few months to rest up. Fact is Tommy Shaw is a quitter
The guy has Ruined Styx, Everyone has excuses as to why Dennis ruined STYX but it's time to focus on Shaw,
The guy is so jealous of Dennis it's sick. That's why he gets along with Gowan, there is no threat, Gowan just shows up acts like Dennis gets his 1000 bucks a show and he's off. Problem is STYX does the same show for 10 years because of it,
We call that the treadmill syndrome.

Lonely School was worse than First Time. This guy is so full of himself and so full of shit It makes me sick.
What about What IF ? What the hell is that. What If What If What If oh my is that some horrific lyrics.
Tommy Shaw gets a pass more than not but not anymore, This Alabama dude hijacked Styx and he should be thrown out of the band for it, Problem is JY has no balls at all and the rest of the band are fillers,

There REALLY ARE a lot of similarities to Styx And the movie Spinal Tap!!
No wonder JY hates that movie!!!

Derrick Sutton Says he was consulted for that movie AFTER it was written. But I'm not so sure I believe him. LOL!

Derrick Sutton was consulted BEFORE and DURING the movie, he's in the credits. I had a conversation with him last summer that turned into an audio interview. We talked about Spinal Tap and Styx, there are a few obvious references.
