I did, I thought it was very well done, especially considering the lack of input from the major players.

I did as well. Probably the quickest read ever! Great book. I actually think it works better due to the lack of input from the main guys.
I didn't walk away with a warm and fuzzy feeling about any of the band members, and maybe that's something that needs to be thought about at the end of the day. They're all human, and they all played a part in the success and demise of the classic period.
I loved the story about Tommy and Todd going back and forth from LA to Chicago to try to record with DDY on "BNW", and being stuck at Burger King for Christmas.

I did as well. Very good book, lots of info. and insight into the band. Maybe it would have been better if there was more input from the band members. I get the feeling that they really wish to keep things more private and not "air the dirty laundry".

"hoagwash," eh??? bet sterling would appreciate that. (i think it's the spelling on this board that keeps me coming back each day)
looks like we have another troll on the board. hmmm... who wants to take bets that this person isn't REALLY making a debut?

Yeah. I was wondering what a "hoag" was that might have some "wash" attached to it. I also agree about the "making a debut".
I felt Sterling did an admirable job of pulling together and distilling all the information that was available out there in one form or another to create a decent, even-handed, bio of the band.

Is Born4Adventure JY?
Judging from the spelling, it could be Froy.
Did Froy like the book? Something is telling me he didn't, but I might be mistaken.

I have read a lot of Rock and Roll biographies. This one was near the top. The attention to detail was very good. It was a little skimpy on the Wooden Nickel years. But other than that, I thought it was a great read.
I also read Chuck's auto-biography. It was an interesting read although not as good as as Sterling's. Chuck's book did go into much deeper detail on John's death though.

Believe it or not me and a few buddies of mine were going to work on a script based on this book and were hopefully gonna have sterlings input on it as well. Unfortunately and probably for the best it didn't work out.

I don't need to read any book I lived through it all.

I did not interview him, but I wrote about him, sure. The book ends after BBT, so it covers the Gowan era at the end.

You should write an addendum to cover everything that has happened since and also get some of those DDY later interviews that came out after the book was published!

I'm glad you liked the Styx book. Sorry to say, don't hold your breath on the Journey thing. There is quite simply zero interest in cooperation from that camp. None whatsoever. Too many skeletons, and their management is not the most reasonable bunch, either. Kinda makes it not worth doing. I suppose that's why it's never been done.

I've been thinking about doing that very thing for some time now, for a special Kindle-only version. It wouldn't be cost effective to publish the whole thing all over again, but a Kindle edition could do well, I think. The problem is, I'm just so freakin' busy, and getting busier all the time! Maybe one day . . .

The interview Allan did with Dennis a while back would change the balance of a lot of things all by itself! Damn that's a great interview. I sure wish it had been available when I was writing.

Remember there are other eBook readers out there which don't use the Kindle format
