Im sure fans would rather see Dennis do PO8 and GI back to back rather than SCHTYX.
I know I would...
Come on Dennis lets do it..
I for one would like to have him play stuff off his latest album more then anything else. I don't think he needs to copy what the current band calling themselves Styx is doing.
Ain't gonna happen cuz he knows people would rather hear Styx.
Yep... People want to hear the songs they know. But if the new stuff is good, he (they) won't lose the crowd when they play it.
I remember seeing Styx during Brave New World. They opened with "Everything Is Cool"... which I kinda liked at the time ... musically, it's a great song to start a concert with. People didn't know what to do. They launched into their second song right out of it and I forget what it was... but it was an oldie that the crowd ate up. My thing was - they should have done just the opposite... work the new material around the old, get the crowd fired up with a few lesser hits (but still known songs) and then hit them with your new stuff. It's always me assertion that you NEVER EVER EVER play a new song ballad off your latest album unless it's a hit. Otherwise - the crowd finds an excuse to check out and it's hard to get them back. Yeah it may be the best thing since Let It Be, but if the crowd doesn't know it, or if it's a miss - then the crowd is then completely lost.
People go to Styx and DeYoung shows to hear Styx music. Even Styx' short-lived experiment with Damn Yankees' songs didn't seem to last too long.
