Biloxi Show Note

Postby Everett » Wed Oct 20, 2010 11:29 am

From Styxworld:

Due to production restrictions, the STYX show on November 12, 2010 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Biloxi, MS will not be a part of THE GRAND ILLUSION/PIECES OF EIGHT tour. This show will be "An Evening With Styx" and will resume as scheduled, but will not be a double-album show as originally listed.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

This was the show that was already scheduled before they decided to make it the PO8/Gi tour. The production wouldn't fit the stage.

So just because the production won't fit the stage they won't play the albums? I don't get it.

its a casino show, they usually dont want the bands to play more than 75 min. to get you back into the casino, production size is just an excuse

The casino may be dictating an all hits set in their contract.

Give it a rest Toph. They have been playing the hits EVERYWHERE in the USA since 1999. It's about time that they came up with something like this. The masses have been given EVERY opportunity to see Styx perform the 'hits' over & over again.

Here is a very very very very very brief summary of where you could of seen Styx playing the 'hits' since 1999.

First off since 1999 they have played 10,694 dates sometimes playing up to nine gigs in a day. They played TWO Super Bowls along with 38 T Ball opening days, 9 Punt Pass and Kick Contests, 14 Pee Wee Hockey Tryout Camp days, 29 Bowling Alleys, 6 Bowling For Dollars TV shows, 11 Floral Shop Openings, 19 Tattoo Shops openings & closings. They also headlined over 130 Garage Sales in the south. They have played 11 Cruise Lines, 14 Pantoon Boat parties( including the famous one that the Minnesota Vikings hosted), 6 Rock & Roll Fantasy Camps, 10 live webcast concerts, 96 nursing homes, 3 Furrs Cafeterrias, numerous Burger Kings, Arby's, KFC/ Taco Bells and 47 Jack In The Boxs. They have played in Florida over 900 times. They help launch the 'new' trailer park concert gigs, and also helped usher in 6 new US Postal Offices. They have also become known as a 'rockin birthday party band' because they have played their 'rockin'hits at over 100 birthday parties(with & without clowns).

All of these shows plus well over 8,000 others have been 'hits' concerts.

So as I stated earlier, give it a rest!!!

No you give it a rest you suck up. What I meant is that if you want to hear all the hits of STYX you don't go see this lineup. You don't hear 5 of their 8 biggest hits with this lineup. If you want to hear Styx hits you go see DDY.

Actually, Froy is 100% right. If you want to hear all the hits (and let's not count Miss America, shall we?), Dennis does them. Whether you choose to go is another thing, but he's factually correct.

We get all the hits with both bands, the only difference is one plays the crappy ballads if that's your cup of tea go ahead.

You like it, but it isn't a hit. DDY plays all the hits. Styx does not. Fact. There's no questioning that.

Those "crappy ballads" made those rockin' guys a lot of money over the years. They do not dominate DDY's set at all. I suggest you see a show before you pass judgement. I've seen plenty of both lineups, and seeing Styx again next week.

Yeah, and those so called "crappy ballads" made the band pretty popular. I'm sure JY and TS didn't complain about the money it made them back then. If it wasn't for some of those songs JY would be playing in bars and TS would be hanging out in bowling alleys.

Yo Tonto,

Who exactly am I sucking up to? As I stated earlier if you wanted the 'hits' from Styx you have had well over 10,0000 chances to do it since 1999. What they are doing now they should have done soon after they played their 5,000 show.

To prove my point log onto: www.styxworld.com and scrool over to the title Greatest Incarnation Of The Band Yet. If you cant find this it is in the lower left portion of the homepage and it is located directly below the sub title: 'We Now Playing The Music The We Have Always Wanted To Play', anyway when click onto this link and look at what maybe their most impressive stat: Since 1999 you could have gone to ANY city or town in the United States ( excluding Alaska & Hawaii) and you have been within 45 minutes of a Styx concert. Times this by 3 and that is a Styx fact.

This band has been putting their hits out there time and again since 1999. What an AWESOME feat!!!

The ballads were the hits dude. I know it doesn't jive with the BS that Tommy and JY like to pull over people's eyes.

The problem is your theory is flawed. Do you expect their website, which is solely designed to promote the current version to post comments and statements that would not have a positive spin towards them? That's like asking a politician to admit he's wrong.

Your observation is spot on. "Best Version of Styx Yet" my ass. How can you claim that when you can't pull off playing songs that you played live over and over for years. You could even include "Rockin' The Paradise". Bet their answer to that would be it's not enough of a "rocker" so that's why we avoid it.
