Why no new album since Cyclorama? Hmmm? 7 years! An album which I liked, mind you...because there were no DDY songs to butcher. Touring endlessly, singing the Dirty Doesn'ts....errrr...Dirty Dozens. Please....ride off into the sunset like the western heroes do.....

Cyclo had no DDY songs to butcher... They DID have Glen. But Gowan wrote some goods ones and Shaw had a few as well.
I tend to agree though. If the band is just on the rehash trail with nothing new being offered, then um, what's the point?
I DID like the tracks on CYO and was hoping they'd actually do something NEW after it.

Sadly, I think this is true.

I'm predicting (for whatever that's worth) that 2011 will be the last year for any Styx configuration. JY's voice crapped out. TS busy getting involved in other projects. And with the venues shrinking every year, I'd like to think they won't play to the local old folks home.

The point is clear. They are trying to milk their back catalog for all it's worth by touring a "greatest hits" show.

The current Styx is not going anywhere soon, so you better get used to it. They continue to make money touring and as long as that is fact, they will be out there, whether you or anyone else likes it or not.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!

You'll get new albums alright but the material will just be old stuff that they rerecord. As if their constant touring hasn't done the job of letting the current fan base experience the "The Best Version of Styx Ever" as JY seems to think it is.

Yep...that is absolutely true.

I'll again compare them to LRB...LRB has even less of a following. They play even smaller venues to fewer people. The did the rerecords...and they were horrid. They have made a couple 'new' albums and they sold about as well as Dennis in the US.

But, they are still out their touring ... despite what whining former fans thing, and how much former bandmates complain. As long as they can make a few $'s and enjoy what they do - they'll be out there. So will Styx.

The bottom line is people like the music and go to the show to hear it. Fans whining on a forum do not change that.

No the Bottom line is Styx will never ever get another record deal and Styx will never ever Get into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Styx will never ever sell more than 2000 seats on a single bill, And Styx will never ever get a new song played on the radio. That means one thing they are just playing for money and using fans to pay for there bills. STYX is DONE

Thanks James Young, Tommy Shaw and Chuck Panazzo

As opposed to if Dennis was with them, they would have a record deal, a radio hit, be selected into the hall of fame and playing large venues. The same old tired out point of view you have played since 1999.

If Dennis was never sandbagged YES they would have a record Deal a Radio Hit-s and at least have a chance for the RRHOF now no chance of any of these

Funny, seems to me they still release CD's. You just don't like the content....or you like to whine about the content.

and Styx will never ever Get into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

So what? The HOF isn't exactly a huge accomplishment any longer. There are bands that SHOULD be there that are not, and some that shouldn't that are. Journey will never be there either.

and Styx will never ever sell more than 2000 seats on a single bill

As I said above...they sell enough to make a few $'s and they enjoy doing it. A few whiners on an internet forum can't stop that from happening.

And Styx will never ever get a new song played on the radio.

I wouldn't be so sure of that...I heard Walrus several times...and several others from BBT.

That means one thing they are just playing for money and using fans to pay for there bills. STYX is DONE

LOL...as if they have not been "playing for money" and using the fans (money) to pay their bill...from the start. I would have quoted the last bit but you never learned the difference between their, there, and they're.

Can't say that I agree with that notion. With or without DDY Styx' popularity today is based on the amount of their popularity in their hay day. Classic bands that have better popularity today had a gimmick or their antics on and off stage seemed to keep people interested in them. Styx really wasn't a band like that. Also, their lack of talking to the press and critics\reviewers back in the day did more damage then good. I do feel that DDY missing from the group does hurt them at this point. It is pretty hard to dismiss someone that had the amount of influence on the success of a band that DDY did. If you look at the reviews of the current Styx , none of them has stated that they band has transformed into something better or has achieved anything noteworthy since DDY's departure.

That is just not true. Journey sells very well and they had none of that. Def Leppard is the same. VH did somewhat...but their 'antics' lessoned their popularity, not improved it..and that is the same with many other 'hair bands' that relied more on 'antics' then music.

Styx really wasn't a band like that.

I would say Roboto is far and way "antics" on stage. How ridiculous of a comparison you have just made. That was absolutely theatrics.
