The more I hear, the more I wonder what Arnel sounds like as himself! All I hear is a very good mimic. :?

Wow, really? I don't think he sounds like Dennis at all... for one thing, his pronunciation is pretty off. He DOES add Dennis' vibrato but I would expect that for a guy covering the tune. That clip's pretty tough to hear him too. It's one of the first times I've NOT liked Arnel covering a track by somebody else.

I dig Arnel, but I hated that.

He can do Steve Perry, but he sure can't do Dennis. That was not good.

Perhaps you think he does Perry, I don't ...something is missing!! He is a great
little singer ...hmmm, y'all don't like him doing Dennis?!?! Not bad, but kind of like
a walk in someone else's shoes ...

I actually enjoyed this. Arnel really does have a slammin' voice. I immediately thought of how bad Gowan would sound on it. As a DeYoung fan, I was not at all offended by Arnel's rendition.

I was grading him on a steep curve due to the audio quality. That doesn't mean that I necessarily liked it.

The point that I was trying to get across was that I just keep hearing him trying to sound like someone else.

Exactly! I don't get how someone can bash a singer and his band and then continue to pay and see them. I hope you won't be at the upcoming Illinois and Wisconsin shows.

I'm sure the other people on here that constantly bash one or the other don't pay and see the people their bashing.

'100 years from now' just popped up on my I-Pod shuffle, and I realized how pathetichly Dennis was grasping at straws for a little hit in Canada,
when the song could have been a huge hit here, had Larry Gow and that French dude sung it together.

Because Gowan has the ability to sing without letting enunciation problems clearly ring through.

That was really bad....he has a voice, but come on.

I don't think Dennis ever expected to have even one of the songs off OYFN become a hit song anywhere, let alone get any substantial air playl. I'm willing to bet that if the Canadian record company didn't approach Dennis to make an album, the album would have most likely not have happened at all.

I was talking about Arnel, not Dennis. Arnel struggles to hide his accent...and it is VERY apparent here. It ruins the song for me.
