I think the song is about all the vices that Tommy had - groupies, prostitutes, coke, marijuana, LSD, alcohol, etc. etc. The guy was seriously messed up back then.

Regardless of what the song is about, it is one of the best Styx songs ever. Just a GREAT, GREAT progressive rock song with incredible harmonies. I've always told people that they were just showing off in this song because the vocals are just soooooo good.
I've listened to it hundreds of times in my life and I still get goosebumps when I hear it.

i didn't know the man was into prostitutes then?? lol not surprised about it either. he's whore. lol reminds me of that cheap trick song.

Great song! Could've maybe been a single, but would have to have been cut down a bit for the single version which may not have worked.
