i'm amazed at how many delusional people actually gave that album 5 stars!!!!!!!! REALLY????!!!!!

it's a 2 1/2 star effort at best. download reach for the bottle and the title track. forget the rest and buy GWG, Ambition, and 7DZ instead!

it has a few clunkers on it but I really like "nature of the beast", "what if", and some of the others on there.

Nature of the Beast is a GREAT GREAT song. Reach For the Bottle & Jealousy are decent at best.

The rest of the album SUCKS!!!! It's damn near as bad as Out On A Day Pass.

If you purchase this CD off of amazon.com chose the .49 cent shipping option and then pray that your CD NEVER arrives!!!

Seven Deadly Zens was GREAT!! An ABSOLUTE gem of an album.

Ambition was good, and Girls With Guns had its moments.

SDZ was the best of any Styx solo record... and IMO ... better than a couple of Styx records. I still listen to the thing start to finish without skipping a track.

As for What If... I liked Nature of the Beast... and call me strange, but I loved the music of "This is not a test".. pretty good guitar lick - just really, really bad lyrics. Listen to it and ignore the vocals... the guitar work is really pretty good. Out on a Day Ass was pure shit from start to finish with zero redeeming qualities other than currently serving as a drink coaster for guests in my home.

That entire albums sucks. There is not one good song on it. So either you have horrible music taste or you are just lifting up the bathwater for your boy Tommy....

If you need more copies of Out On a Day Pass to make a complete coaster set, I am sure JY can help you out. I wonder if that album even sold 500 copies.

No it doesn't. It's Dennis' best solo album. But, 7DZ has stood the test of time as a great album for me where I haven't played 100yrs for months now and simply don't miss it at all.

You can have your preference of one over the other...but to say one 'blows away" the other is absolute bullshit.

To me it's the most solid solo efforts from both of them (7DZ\OYFN). The albums are too different for me to compare them in that way. As far as What If I always had the feeling that Tommy was just filling his contractual obligation with that album. The album is very weak at best.

Anyone who knows anything about me and my time here knows I'm behind DDY 100000%. I love him - go to his shows... and 100 Years is his best work since Paradise Theatre. Conversely, I've been to one Styx show since DDY was kicked out... and I didn't know he was kicked out at the time. And when Gowan sang CSA, I left. (This was 1999).

7DZ is in a different class. It neither sounds like Styx or any other of Tommy's work. Simply put - it's modern music (for it's time) and it works - really, really well. I'm willing to give credit where credit is due... and 7DZ is Tommy at his absolute best. Just like 100YFN is DDY at his best. To be honest, it's really, really close - but 7DZ touches me more and the song meanings are more relevant to me - and that is the difference to me.

Especially:
In This Night
Ocean
What Do You Want From Life
How Should I Feel (why this wasn't on the US version is a crime IMO)

just dont send it tomorrow because i'm scheduled to scrub tommy's back during his bath before i drink the left over water in the tub....he prefers that i help wash him prior to me drinking the water.

I tend to agree with you except that it's the reverse for me. The songs on OYFN are more relevant to me then the songs on 7DZ. Both are great albums. I bet it was a shock for you when you saw STYX in '99 and out walks Gowan instead of DDY. I knew ahead of time about the DDY booting and went to the show with an open mind and wanted to give the new line up a fair shake. Sadly it didn't do much for me and from that point on they never recaptured my full attention.
