I really wish they'd start with Rockin' The Paradise then go right into Blue Collar Man. I think it works better that way... it always did in the past. BCM just doesn't strike me as a good opener. Also, last year when they opened with a sort of Borrowed Time medley followed with The Grand Illusion it worked as well. Great setlist though, I'm glad they kept Man in The Wilderness, Castle Walls and I'm O.K. Though it's not the same without DDY at the helm. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Gowan basher... but I am pro DDY being in Styx.

I wish they would trade im ok for queen of spades. I like im ok but queen of spades is a better tune imo. I am the walrus as an encore wtf?????

Doubt you will ever see Rockin' the Paradise in a Styx set list as long as Gowan is in Styx. Early on they did include it but it's a song that just didn't seem to suit Gowan. I think he does it on the Arch Allies DVD and it made me cringe.

I'm OK is a more "fun" live song, but yes queen Of spades is better. But I think they do I'm OK because the audience can get into it more. They need to never play Walrus again. I cringe every time they play it. Let him sing Strange Animal in its place.

Beyond TMTOMH, nothing representative of the back half of their career. Missed opportunity IMO.

Of the six members of Styx, Lawrence has the best prospects for success outside of Styx. He can probably take Styx or leave Styx and not hurt financially, so it would make sense that they keep him happy. He bails, it would be the final nail in the Styx coffin. I would rather hear non-hits at this point and if LG has to sing a few, fine by me. The hits I've heard countless times and can do without some of them for awhile.

There isn't one Styx song that suits Gowan.

I don't mean to be a jerk for saying this, but seriously, if Gowan left and the band replaced him with someone strong, it would probably make no difference to the bottom line draw of Styx. He bails and they keep Tommy, they can get a YouTube guy and roll on down the road. Hell, if you can replace a founding member who wrote and sang most of your hits, you can certainly replace his replacement, LOL.

That's not a knock to Gowan, whom I like. It's just the obvious truth. Now if Tommy left, on the other hand . . . then we've got a big problem.

True statement. Losing Tommy would be the death of the band because that would really leave only JY. If Dennis were in the band and they lost either Tommy or JY they could survive as evident during Edge of the Century.

They seem to be in that zone like the oldies groups from the '50s and 60s. The band would not have one original member and the general fan would still see them just because the bill says Styx.

I don't know, I remember Bad Company touring in the 90's with Simon Kirke, the drummer, as the ONLY original member. They still put on a good show. From some reason Mick Ralphs was off that tour but still in the band. I remember people commenting at that show "It's like Steve Smith touring as Journey".

I'm sure that bands that do not have any of the original members put on a good show. But, it's usually not like the original real deal. You come away with the impression that something is missing. Styx still puts on a "professional" show even higher production value then DDy's shows. However, it does nothing for me. IMHO what was great about Styx was lost when the classic line up fell apart for what seems like the last time.
