This talk about Music Time being the "worst video ever" according to Sterling got me to thinking.....how about doing a ranking of the 30 Styx/Styx solo videos? Are they really as bad aws Sterling makes them out to be? Is Music Time really the worst? Hate to say it, but Music Time fares pretty well on my list - there is a lot worse videos out there.
So, here goes...a new discussion for each video. There are actually 32 Styx/Styx solo videos, but I can't find Tommy Shaw's Free To Love You or JY's Wild Dogs in the Night - two videos that were actually shown on the airways on MTV. Both were horrific, Free To Love You was just clips of that Tommy Shaw MTV special and Wild Dogs - who knows, but I think it aired once on Headbangers ball.
How did I rank these? One man's opinion. But I gave points to some type of creativity, points to video professionalism (some are very homemade looking), points to how interesting the video is - does it capture my attention and get me watching, also points are credited for impact a video made - did it get any airplay at all? Song quality is also part of it, but a smaller part - this is not about the best songs - this is about the best videos.
By the way, this has to be an actual video - no taped concert appearance (unless it was done specifically for a video to be shown on MTV - i.e. Babe)
We'll go down from #30 all the way down to #1......Feel free to comment and disagree (which I am sure no one here will do....)
So without further adieu....go to the next thread to see #30 and, in my mind, the worst Styx/Styx solo video ever made....
