I have to admit that Lawrence's voice has gotten much better since then, but what's the point when Dennis is touring and sounds so great?

Mmm.. I posted this link in another thread just yesterday. I think people got the message. Instead you should have posted this other gem. I don't know which is worse. They should have changed the song title and lyrics to The Worst of Times, Right Now.

If Larry had auditioned for Simon Cowell, we wouldn't even be discussing him at this moment. 8)

If you can listen to Dennis perform Rockin' the Paradise or Best of Times side by side to Gowan and tell me that the Gowan rendition is good, you have to be tone deaf.

Well, there's no doubt that neither one of those songs was a good fit for Gowan's voice . . . which is why they don't play them anymore. Over time they have honed in on his strengths and learned how to steer around his weaknesses. He's also become a far better harmony singer since 1999. When he first joined Styx my first reaction hearing him was that he was not a strong blend vocalist. He's improved a lot in that area since then, and I also think he's a better singer overall now than he was then.

The acoustic arrangement of "The Best of Times" was just a bad idea all the way around, in my opinion.

As if you really needed to point that out. Sometimes to read your replies one could think that Larry Gowan is some kind of brainwashing cult.

Isn't that great that they have to "steer" around songs that are liked by the fans and were staples in the set list all because your replacement employee hasn't got the chops to pull them off. Avoiding popular songs off your only #1 album and avoiding your only #1 single seems pretty lame to me.

Froy or Fred as you prefer to call him is just voicing a very strong opinion. So what? If you don't like his point of view you could try something new and just ignore him and save your breath. They always say doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is insanity. Also, people may take you more seriously if your posts weren't always so gushy like a 13 year old drooling over Gowan like the latest pin up boy.
