It's a sad moment for millions of STYX fans. Just think the guy who was invited to the band back in 75 has now taken the band down.
It's really very sad. I told you all it was Shaw but everyone blamed JY, It was Shaw all along who sandbagged the guy who started this thing we all know as
STYX. Very sad,

Are you really this dim? Neither JY or Tommy want DDY in the band. In fact, I bet Chuck doesn't want him. If John or JC were alive, they probably wouldn't want him either.

The one to blame is DDY for making everybody miserable.

Get over it.

ive been a STYX fan for years but only seen them for the first time a few weeks back, and i thought they were amazing! In fact, id go as far to say they were one of the best live bands ive ever seen! I honestly wasn't bothered about DDY not being there as the rest of the guys put on a great show. the band obviously dont like DDY or they would tae him back, maybe he was a hard person to work with? saying that, i do believe he is a genius as far as songwriting and performing goes, and the albums after he left are sub-par, but that doesn't affect the live show. it would be nice to see him return to the band he started :P

A person that is dim is one that believes that the demise of the "classic line up" is simply one person. They all had a hand it. They are all guilty of what they contributed to the downfall. Dennis wanting full control, JY not interested in doing anything but straight ahead rock, Tommy always complaining to others instead of talking face to face with the person he had an issue with, then add in his substance abuse issues. You can't blame one person and one person alone.

Or just maybe there was more then one person in Styx that was hard to work with. The knee jerk reaction to anyone that has an ego (which they all do) is it's you not me.

Sure I can.

When one person thinks he is captain and should be the only one to steer the ship, then turnes into Captain Bligh, that person is to blame when the ship sinks. I don't care if it's DDY, Steve Perry, or Neal Schon.

DDY steered Styx into an iceberg with Kilroy - and he never recovered. Not in 1991, not in 1996, and he never will. I don't care what the rest of the crew did, the self apointed captain needs to take the blame...and he is the one the crew mutinied against.

So, yeah, I can blame him all I want.

You are exactly right.

If DDY couldn't handle a leadership role without being Capt. Bligh and/or steering the ship into an iceberg then he should have never taken so mch control of the band. He's capt, he's to blame.

Well, only Tommy knows if he really is "clean". Dennis is now replaced with a guy that can't sing Dennis' material so they have to steer away from stuff and pick and choose what this sub par singer can handle. That's as silly as Charlie Sheen thinking he's "winning".

Sure I can.

When one person thinks he is captain and should be the only one to steer the ship,

Captain ? You mean the guy who founded the band is not supposed to be the captain? You mean the guy who produced every single cd for the band is not supposed to be the captain? You mean to tell me the guy who wrote the only number 1 hit for the band and about 12 others that were stand outs is not supposed to be the captain? Would you rather have the guy who threatened to quit the band be the captain? Would you rather the guy who snorted coke be the captain? Would you rather have the guy who pulls his pants down for album covers be the captain? I DON'T THINK SO,

DDY steered Styx into an iceberg with Kilroy

BULLSHIT Kilroy was a great cd I loved it The song was out there but so what, Grow Up

- and he never recovered. Not in 1991,

Thanks to Shaw being to busy with goofy Nugent,

not in 1996,

96 was fantastic Loved it. It was a great start.

I don't care what the rest of the crew did, the self appointed captain needs to take the blame

Blame for what one bad song? This is absurd, When giving blame also give credit, Dennis deserves more credit than blame

If DDY, and people like you, wants to take credit for: Producing every album, creating the Styx sound, writing all the hits, being the 'spokesperson' for the band...and believes he could have made songs like "I Will Be Your Witness" better if he had added his magical touch....Then he also has to take the blame for steering the band into Roboto land, causing a rift between himself and the rest of the band, the break up of the band - both after Kilroy and during BNW.

You can't have control and not take the blame when the ship crashes and the rest of the crew puts together what they can and continues on without Capt Dunsel..

You mean the song everyone mentions when asked about STYX, They even use Roboto when they advertise there current shows,
I think Roboto was a fantastic cd the only bad song was Cold War and Roboto itself so what.

causing a rift between himself and the rest of the band,

Last I checked Dennis has said that pushing KWH on the band was not the right decision. You act as if he hasn't. Still that by no means indicates that he was the only issue in the band. The reality is that they all had Type A personalities and egos and were never going completely gel on a personality level. Which affected the band.

August Zadra, Jimmy Leahy, Tom Sharpe, John Blasucci, and Craig Carter seem to be having a great time with Dennis. Maybe Tommy's cocaine problem had more to do with the split in Styx than Dennis's personality. I'm sure Dennis got pretty frustrated with Tommy's lack of ambition during the Paradise Theatre tour era. Tommy wanted to do cocaine instead of work on the album. That would piss me off too.
