Build a Styx album

Postby Archetype » Wed Jul 13, 2011 8:59 am

Take songs from the entire Styx/Styx member solo careers and compile one album. How would it have done if it was released in 1980?

The Grand Illusion
Blue Collar Man
Desert Moon
Queen Of Spades
Crystal Ball
Midnight Ride
Love At First Sight
Best New Face
One Hundred Years From Now
Renegade
Come Sail Away
One With Everything

You lose all credibility with the inclusion of Best New Face. And are you the only person in the world that isn't completely sick of Blue Collar Man?
Otherwise some good choices.

Here is what I came up with:

Love Is The Ritual
Desert Moon
Girls With Guns
Midnight Ride
Show Me The Way
Rockin' The Paradise
Reach For The Bottle
This Time Next Year
Half Penny, Two Penny
Crossing The Rubicon

I tried to think in the context of what song styles would have been popular in the 1980's.

Cool exercise

But first, some of you are cheating - albums don't have 19 songs on them.

I think the farthest you can stretch is 12 songs. Here is mine in the traditional side one and side two format.

Side One
AD 1928/Rockin The Paradise
Foolin Yourself
Show Me The Way
Lights
Best Of Times
Come Sail Away

Side Two
This Time Next Year
Boat On the River
Desert Moon
Crystal Ball
Haven't We Been Here Before?
Pieces of Eight
