So what's the story behind this concert? Was Lawrence really already in the band?

You do whether you care to say or not. That's why you're signed up for this board.

Just because I'm signed up doesn't mean I am interested in every detail of the life and times of Lawrence Gowan.

It would be an incredible testament to Dennis's class and integrity if he played the show knowing that Lawrence Gowan, his replacement, was already hired.

Well at least he knew that his so called band mates had already voted to kick his ass to the curb by that time. So regardless if LG was in the wings, Dennis stayed the professional as always. If I remember correctly wasn't Dennis seated at a piano that was far away from where the other members were set up?

Dennis was fired and Larry was hired before the CMN in 1999. Dennis wanted to perform for the CMN since he committed to it beforehand and to help raise funding for the CMN, which he did. Just the inner circle of Styx knew that Dennis was fired at that time and they kept it out of the media, so at that time the fans didn't have a clue.

Watching it at the time, you wouldn't know anything was wrong. BUT looking at it now, ONLY the hardcore Styx/DDY fans can tell by the contacts and gestures that are made during the performance.

Someone has to be "that guy" on this forum :)

There are several threads about the CMN going back to 2003.

Ha! An oldie but goodie thread, Suite.

I have not changed my opinion of how good Dennis was in this performance.

And he still is an awesome performer.

Bugsy
