So true:

"There's a lot of things that I don't like and things that don't do it for me, but you know what I do? I change the channel. I pay it no mind at all, and I focus on things that I do like. I think that's a much happier way to exist on this planet, is finding things that you do like and enjoying them. Not b*tching about things that you don't like, or even defending them if you do. At a certain point you have to realize that this all childish. If you like something, great. If you don't like something, great. Move on" .

Damn, how did you beat me to that? LOL. I posted that on Facebook mere minutes ago!

Among other things, Todd also talks about Tommy's recent interview with 'Rolling Stone.'

Thanks,

Sterling

Good interview. I had a feeling that Tommy's words were a bit off.

I loved this interview, and I wondered what some folks here would think about it, particularly this line:

"But I don't understand people who don't like things who spend all their time letting their feelings be known."

Now granted, while I am a newbie posting here, I have been reading and lurking here for a long time; the names of several folks came to mind when I read this interview....

I guess if one considers that the person "letting their feelings be known" spends all their time in one place, i.e. this forum then you could see it that way. But is that really reality? When you read any forum like this you are going to get the good, the bad and the ugly.

I would say he's right Styx use to have 14 thousand fans show up to there shows here in Chicago when Dennis was there. Then Todd and his pals decided to sandbag the guy stab him in the back and steal away the band and name. What happened? 13 thousand 500 of those fans did not like it at all so they did what Todd suggested and they moved on. As far as defending things I like Pal till the freakin day I die I will be here defending Dennis DeYoung and ripping you and your so called band,

Yeah, the ones who posted below yours....you know, the ones who can not concede that they act like spoiled children who can't get their way. No matter how many time reality smacks them in their face, they just refuse to see that their invented POV is a bunch of bullshit.

Uhh, no. I have no relation to the band whatsoever. Just a fan since 1977, who only several months ago discovered this board. And, while it has been fun jumping in and commenting, I do have a hard time understanding the mentality of people who spend 12 years whining about things of which they have absolutely no control. It's perfectly fine to "long for the past," but why spend so much time constantly denigrating those who are fine with the status quo? I, too, miss the old days, but I have no problem with the way things are now. Shit happens. Life goes on.

I think its safe to say that even those that have a different opinion to the whiners, complainers or what ever you want to call them are just as guilty of "denigrating" those that don't agree with their point of view. So as pinkfloyd1973 is fond of saying "Pot Meet Kettle".

I doubt they even think that. If you read what Todd says, I'm sure they think it's all just a waste of time. They think it's a waste of time for US and an even bigger waste of time for them.

Too bad too...Tommy used to be on the Styx mailing list way back between "Don't Tread" and 7DZ. Back then, he intereacted a lot with the fans. I even traded a few Emails with him, which was a lot of fun. Also, before that even, Glen was on Prodigy and posting once in a while to fans. I think the insanity has grown so much that there is no way that type of interaction will ever happen again. What would the point be? There is no 'real' interesting discussion any longer...I doubt there is a single post on the forum that any member things, "Gee, that is an interesting discussion that I'd like to add to..." It's not like the old days AT ALL. The band posting will just fuel the negativity and make everything a lot worse.

It seems to me that the way Tommy, JY and Chuck handled the situation with Dennis is one of the reasons that it's not "like the old days". Didn't Tommy stop posting and interacting when the spilt happened? I think the reason for him not posting was because he didn't want to read the fan's opinion of the issue or even respond to it. Funny since that is who is responsible for him making a living.
