The Grand Illusion 180 gram

Postby GrandIllusionist725 » Thu Aug 11, 2011 7:42 am

I received my copy of the Grand Illusion on 180 gram vinyl today! Very nice to see this re-released by Friday Music and I hope to see more Styx records brought up to 180 gram. :D

I confess to ignorance of the whole "180 gram" thing. What does that mean? Is it supposed to improve sound quality? I always thought vinyl was vinyl. What's the difference?

I did for a while too, the sound is better and the record is a bit thicker.

Ah, thanks, GI725. Out of curiosity, does the new album come with the original poster? Seriously, do you think the album is a worthwhile purchase?

Sadly it doesn't come with the original poster. I'm lucky to have the original with the original poster but that would've been a nice addition. I think it is worthwhile in my opinion, it was only 20.00 new on amazon where newly remastered albums run way higher than that. It's a cool collectible and I hope they continue to remaster these, I'd still prefer remastered cd's tho :D

Thanks again! Shame about the poster, but I also have my original with the original album. I'll probably pick this up. Actually, Tommy wrote on Facebook recently that he had just received his, also. And, I'm with you--remastered CDs would be much nicer to have. Much more portable.
