Here's a hallucination. Would you go?

Likely a repeat of another topic, but in my opinion, it's time for this band to wrap up this thing called Styx. Old version, new version, whatever. It's just time. They are old, and irrelevant. Cal Ripken was still decent, but eventually, realized it was time. Styx is like Joe Paterno - it's time to go, they just won't. Soon, one of them will break a hip, and have to be wheeled out on a cart. Finish. Close it down. So how about this.....

JY (and TS if needed) get over themselves, and DDY comes back for one final go-round - with Gowan (can't believe I'm suggesting it). Bring back Chuck Full Time - I'm sure he could handle it if the tour constructed correctly. Ricky and his eyeliner can go. Include Glenn if he would agree. They should do a 3 + hour set to fewer, but hopefully, larger venues. Put it on DVD. The only way they could do a longer set is if they have another lead singer. I saw the Eagles during their Long Road Out of Eden tour. It was about 3 1/2 hours worth of music, but they have 4 individuals to share lead responsibilities. They essentially rotated principals throughout their set (although T. B. Schmidt did not have as many, obviously). It was awesome, with great quality.

Open with something classic (maybe from Equinox). Hit the catalog hard. Leave Babe, Miss America, and Roboto behind. Include songs like Queen of Spades, Pieces of 8, Half Penny Two Penny. Include a DDY solo tune or 2. Include a TS solo tune or 2. No solo tunes for JY......sorry. Keep Gowan away from DDY's songs. Let him have Criminal Mind, a song or 2 of his from the Carrot album, and maybe a song or 2 from the remake's they've done. He would also be an able backup on everything else, plus keyboards. Sprinkle a couple of Burntik tunes while they're at it, if he'd be involved. Hit the catalog.....classic and recent (where recent is 10 years old). Hit the catalog.

At the end of the day, leave. Give the fan bases (both of them, since there seem to be 2) one final swan song that has some hope of satisfaction for both camps. Go out with a bang - at least as big of one as they are able to muster.

The likelihood of that all happening? Probably none. But would that work for you, the fan? Would any of you go? What would would be a good set list in this scenario?

Sorry but if Dennis was to be involved, having Gowan on board would be pointless. He has not contibuted anything substantial to Styx. As far as Chuck goes I think he's pretty much is spent. If he wasn't you would be seeing him participate more in the shows he does show up. I have come to the opinion that a reunion of any sort with Dennis is never gonna happen and frankly I'm happy with that. JY's, Tommy's and to some extent Chuck's actions post the split proves Dennis does not need to be in the same room let alone a stage with these guys. As far as anything eventful from Styx all I can say is "Stick a Fork In Their Ass, Their Done". Theirs not enough interest from the casual fan to warrant a show like you suggest.

I think you missed my point. It isn't about Gowan's relevance in the band (I agree, it's non-existent said for one album). It's also not about whether DDY "needs" to share a room or stage with his former band mates, or about the last 12 years of JY's and TS's "actions". It was more about, if this miserable collection of individuals COULD pull of something like that, put on a good show featuring the catalog (meaning, can't be limited to 90 minutes), would that be enough to satisfy both camps, even in only some small way, and be enough to write the final chapter to this thing called Styx. I do realize it's not going go happen, but I'm not convinced there wouldn't be elevated interest, albeit perhaps not enough to matter.

It is and would be lame. More improbable than a full reconciliation.

4 nights at the Rosemont Theater (seats around 4400) in Chicago. The main players would be DDY, JY, TS, Chuck & Todd. Glen, Gowan and RP will come out to do a few songs each. They can do the hits and the rarities. Make it a special show with additional video, lights, etc. Have special guests join on a few songs. Extras could include new interviews with all members, interviews from musicians/celebrities who were fans, rare photos, videos. Package it as a celebration of Styx. Record it for Blu-ray/DVD/CD.

A purely positive Styx experience for the fans and for the members.

After, Styx and DDY can go back to what they do now. Froy and Toph can then go back to what they do now.
