anything different?

Just saw that Styx is coming to town again in Feb. They were just here not too long ago with YES.
I didn't realize they were still out there without Yes.

So the question is- Does anyone know if these newer dates are "Evening's With Styx" or "Grand Illusion / Pieces of Eight" shows?

Does it really matter at this point?

Yeah, I'd go see a GI/PO8 show (didn't see it last time).

Probably a regular show. However they do plan to do the gi/po8 tour next year again though. Cross your fingers bry.

Janey Young these guys look like a bunch of drunks Gowan running around like a fool. This must be getting old with Shaw you can see it in his wrinkled face. I use to like this song and now forget it
Its dead just like the band.

I didn't sell out. I like both and always have liked both camps.
Though not a fan of a few of Dennis' sappier tunes.

However, if Styx is not doing any new music and not doing a special
PO8/GI show, I'm not going. Dennis never comes up here so...

I knew Jy, but the one I was referring to was in the backup vocals. Someone is singing real high, and it almost sounds feminine.

yeah, I'm not even going to listen to that. I've heard that way too many times over the past years.
Unfortunately, all of these old bands are in the position of (at least in the US) "We just want to hear the hits. Nothing else". That is so lame.

To be honest and and I am not trying to start something here, But...
Gowan's background vocals completely ruin this performance. It's not his fault. He just doesn't belong in THIS band. Without Dennis' voice (lead or backgroud) this band will never sound like Styx. Ever.
And I would much rather see Chuck up there than Ricky. Chuck brought class to Styx. Ricky looks way out of place.

That's my thought as well. Neither the current Styx nor Dennis' band are going to sound like what it was with the three of them together. That became very clear to me when I saw the current Styx in concert.
