If Tommy was no longer in Styx and they continued to tour with a replacement to sing and play his guitar parts would you still go to see them in concert? Also, Dennis would still not be in the band.

No, I would not.But I would bet my last dollar,
that by the time Tommy is done touring and not being with Styx.JY will be ready to retire also.

Tommy is the only reason I see Styx. Period. His song "Fooling Yourself" is the reason I discovered the band way back in '77.

I have to agree with that.

In reality when TS is done being part of Styx, JY will have no other option but to retire. He is the most faceless Styx member of the three.

Seems to me that you just proved that Chuck is.

Chuck has better recognition now with Styx then ever before. Ever since he came out of the closet. But, yes he is a lesser known member. I did say "of the three" meaning TS, DDY and JY.

God. It's delusional Sunday here. Chuck? Better recognition? I bet if you asked 1000 music fans of the 1970's that 990 of them would have never heard of Chuck Panozzo.

I'm speaking in terms of the press recognition he has gotten since coming out and talking about his HIV. Not to mention how they spot light him when he appears on stage.

I should clarify that I meant no disrespect to Chuck. But there is no way that he has the recognition anything close to Tommy or JY... whether he is in or out of the closet. He's a rock on bass for the band and I wish he was doing it full time, but that is what it is. I do wish him well tho.

My point was never to say that Chuck has more recognition then TS,JY or DDY. My post is focusing on the three of them not Chuck or the current hired employees of the current Styx.

Exactly...Chuck is so 'faceless', you don't even count him as a founding member of the band.

This post is not about who is or isn't founding members of the band. It's about if Tommy was no longer a part of the current line up that's all. In regards to founding members, I certainly include Chuck as a founding member.

So, instead of saying "The three". You should say "The four".

The fact that you don't, and most people don't, put him in the same stature as DDY, JY, and Tommy shows that he is EXTREMELY 'faceless'. Most people don't know who he is. Out of those who do, he doesn't 'count' nearly as much as the others. So, the more you stumble about, the more you prove the point...each time you named the others, counted the others, etc...you have shown how 'faceless' Chuck really is.

Something I actually agree with you on. Relative to DDY, TS, and JY, Chuck was/is a faceless member of the band, and if far less known than those 3. So no, he simply just doesn't count as much. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's always been there - he's part of their history. But let's face it, if Chuck had left for good an any point (distant past, or present), it would have been LESS relevant than when John Curulewski left the band. Chuck was the bass player, not a lead singer or writer of songs. If you shut your eyes and listen, you'd be hard pressed to know that someone else was playing the bass. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Gowan's vocal abilities.

The subject matter here is/was TS, JY and DDY which were the principal driving force of the band. I didn't make them that. That's what happened. This was not a question or poll about the founding members. Do I think overall that Chuck is as recognized as the other three, no. By that I mean no disrespect to Chuck at all. I think it's great that in recent years he has been "brought more to the front" so to speak. Your reading into this way too much.

Which means Chuck is faceless.

This was not a question or poll about the founding members.

Correct...it's my response to you saying "JY is the most faceless of the three", or whatever...a statement which means that Chuck is even more faceless.

No I'm not. It's very simple...Chuck is so faceless, irrelevant, meaningless, that you do not list him along with 'the other three", even though he is an original member of the band, along with JY and Dennis.
