Hmm, I skimmed the board before I posted it but missed the original thread.

Sorry - it was a monumental piece of theatrical genius. Better?

Wow! That was really cool . . . in an uncool way, obviously, LOL.

Hard to believe the story that they always hated each other when you see stuff like that, isn't it?

Thanks for posting that!

Huh, yes. That was what I was trying to point out in my reply. I remember hearing Dennis say that if things were that bad in the band he would have never been in the band in the first place. Quite a bit of the tension and issues they had have been over blown to make the story more interesting then it really was. Just my opinion of course.

This is a bit from a photo shoot for promotion.

When somebody posts a video of what went on during the writing and recording of Kilroy, and if they are all smiles, you'll then have a point. Until then, you're just writing fiction...and pretty boring fiction, too.

Monkey boy - you need to learn the facts...according to Tommy Shaw during Paradise Theater, he was msierable because it was another concept album with a ballad as the lead singer...remember how much Dennis had "changed" since they fired him? He came back in the my way or the highway? Sure doesn't seem like they are very miserable here. It also is to be noted that the album that Dennis took charge on in PT and had most of the songs and lead the direction, happened to be their only #1 album and their biggest seller to date. KDennis bashers always like to pull out platinum Kilroy (which hit #3) as a complete failure that was Dennis's creation, but somehow always forget that Paradise was a HUGE success

The fact is this is the band putting on their public face. If you want to 'prove' how happy or unhappy they are at that time, find some video of what was going on behind the scenes during the writing and recording of the album. THAT will make a point. Showing the band dancing and singing about like the Monnkees just proves that they could still put a smile on when their pcs are taken.

And, as for facts,..I have never pushed PT as some kind of breaking point for the band. I have posted for more then 20yrs that Kilroy broke the band. I don't care how much success you can point to, it tore up the band....all because captain Dunsel forced it down their throats.

I heard Tommy was trying to get out the spoon that was stuck up his nose and JY was busy discussing with his legal team the letter they needed to write to the studio owners about the one ply TP in the studio restroom.

PT was gonna be a huge hit regardless of how good it was at least to some point....hear me out.

coming on the momentum of TGI, POE and Cornerstone, Styx was literally the biggest band in America.....PT didnt have to be a great album to succed......The fact that it was a great album was just icing on the cake and helped keep the train a rollin. if PT had sucked it would have been the beginning of the end for them then.

case in point is this.....when Kilroy was released Styx was still huge....MTV was still more than willing to play their videos constantly......but the album was so "not what the masses wanted" that it managed to really be the death nail to their coexistence.

sure it sold two million copies......and had two top ten singles but in my opinion a GREAT deal of that was because it was simply STYX not because it was GREAT styx. so that's why the sales declined a great deal.....in reality, the band as a creative force had pretty much run their course.

if you take the best songs from desert moon, girls with guns and city slickers you could have made one additonal really good styx album but not a GREAT styx album.

and at the time regardless of who wrote what songs on PT....tommy was face of styx on MTV....too much time on my hands was everywhere and for most kids at that time it was the coolest and best song on that album. dennis may have written more tunes on the album but they would not have remained as popular as they did without tommy being out front and on the cover of 16 magazine etc....

So what were Captain Druggie and Captain Sick My Lawyer On You doing?

Well, I think you and Toph were probably in diapers at that time.

I heard Tommy was trying to get out the spoon that was stuck up his nose and JY was busy discussing with his legal team the letter they needed to write to the studio owners about the one ply TP in the studio restroom.

Like I said, you were still in diapers...and like Zan implied, you guys never grew out of them.

I'm sorry... Did you say something??
