Some are going to hate this but I think its pretty amazing, this guy did a great job of mixing from two different live sources. This on is going in the car CD player A.S.A.P.

Wow, great job of editing these. I hate the dopey trumpet thing in the beginning though. ugh.
You can definitely hear the differences in their voices. DeYoung really developed a TON of bottom end since Styx's first breakup in 84.
I think Gowan does a good job on the track though.

I think this is way cool. The choruses are huge!
Not digging the first guitar solo much. Is that Styx or Dennis's camp? Looks like Styx in the video.
The second one's great.

Okay, now the wacknuts can complain how blasphemous this is...

You know, if you're really busy and doing ten other things at once, you don't really hear much of a difference between the vocals. It's only when you nitpick. Lawrence does the song justice.

I have to admit, this is pretty cool. This person did a really terrific job of mixing these two versions.

Sure can hear the contrast of Dennis' rich vocals and Gowan's thin imitation, tho' I do give Gowan credit for being on key.

This is truly one of my all-time favorite Styx songs. Nothing much beats the album version on GI, though.

Thanks for posting the link.

This is a song on which I think Dennis has a really clear advantage. Not only did he write it, it happens to suit a side of his voice that is one of his unusual strengths, and Gowan, though he sings it okay, just does not have the type of voice to fill up the ambient space in the way that Dennis does.

That said, I don't like either live version anywhere as much as the original recording, which happens to be one of my favorite Styx tracks ever. But I prefer the Dennis version with his band. The current Styx version, for me, just kinda lays there.

Very cool edit, though.

I really enjoyed Dennis' version with the orchestra. He performed it when I saw that show.

Gowan is not "imitating" Dennis. Why do people keep saying that? He's singing the song with HIS voice in HIS style. Styx didn't hire him to imitate Dennis. They hired him to sing Dennis's songs and play Dennis's keyboard parts. There is a difference.

Really good editing. This is probably my all time favorite Styx song. Dennis' voice is the reason why I love this song so much, though.

Wasn't Hung Tommy's second choice if Gowan declined to become a Styx employee?
