That the years 1999-2011 have been a missed opportunity for Styx ? Being free of DDY was supposed to allow Styx to go back to their Rock and roll roots and create more music along the lines of their more powerful "rockers"

Let's summarize....in those 12 years we have, by my count 3 songs off Cyclorama that would fit the bill. You may be able to argue it's closer to 5, but it would be a real stretch to go beyond that.

I was hoping they just had a bad case of writers block that would eventually lift, but I think after a decade, that hypothesis goes out the window.

It's really too bad...I think most of us here would have liked to have more music in their stated genre. To be fair, I give DDY about3 songs that fit the bill, for OHYFN.

We're left with 2 nostalgia bands, which IS better than nothing, especially since Tommy and Dennis can still sing and do justice to their tunes live. But it was a colossal missed opportunity.

Seems to me that the ousting of DDY had more to do with TS and JY wanting to rake in the dough by constant touring which for the most part they knew DDY would not be as interested. The issue of wanting to be released from not being able to create the music TS and JY wanted was not a major point to the ousting of DDY in my opinion.

Funny, in my mind, as I was finishing the title sentence, I thought, ...that it's time to let the dead horse lie?

Perhaps they just wanted to tour because they obviously love to do so? Some people just love--and live--to be onstage, and TS, in particular, seems to be of that mold.

since Carrot is not that.
But if they said,that from now on when we play live,we will be a rock'n roll band,
I think the succeeded gloriously.

so therefore they have accomplished what they wanted to do.

Doesn't mean they are better. Good music isn't about how fast and loud you can play. JY doesn't seem to understand that.

I don't think I said it was better Toph.
I am saying,if their mission was to rock harder in concert after Dennis was sacked,
I think,according to my experience they have done so.
Would you agree with that?
