On My Way

Pulled out RTP for the first time in quite a while today. I had forgotten what a great song that is. At the time that came out, it was a new song that I thought harkened back to the their glory days. A somewhat harder edge, and the harmonies. Another few albums of new songs of that quality, from that configuration would have been nice.

Fresh hot latte and scones for everyone! OK, that was silly and unnecessary (both here, and in the song).

I thought it was kinda funny. "Lattes and scones for everybody". It's a great song followed by an equally great DDY penned song. It sorta gave us hope for what a new album would sound like. Even though I like BNW, it doesn't really live up to the level of those tracks IMO.

Agreed on BNW. There are some singularly good tracks, but the whole thing sounds disjointed, thanks to the renewed fighting, and the whole shipping tracks back and forth across the country. A real lost opportunity. Thanks J "we're touring now and we're not waiting, dammit" Y for being so almighty and smart, and pressuring TS into taking sides and being a divisive force. You are the Godfather of Styx after all.

Pressuring Tommy.?Too funny.
Read the Grand Delusion of Sterling.
My favourite chapter is where Dennis is cornering Tommy and being all over him.
Tommy can't get a word in, Dennis being full of himself, and I am the leader, I wrote our only # 1 hit.
The observer reads Tommy's face, as you'll never talk to me and bully me like this again.
How often do you get a band to toss a guy, who thinks he is god's gift to the music world.?Rarely if never .
Only Blood Sweat and Tears come to mind.
But you Dennis fans who complain about Styx waiting until Dennis is ready makes me laugh.
Now that Dennis is fired he has got all the time in the world to do the things he wants to do and then some.
Obviously he must have have failed miserably, because now you wanted him back in Styx, so he can get help getting back on track and being successful.
What was that song called that he wrote for Suzettes book called again? Love foretold?

Don't confuse things idiot. I could care less about books, animated dogs, and hunchback The fact is, a little patience likely would have resulted in a better result for BNW, and I think, a more relevant long term history. And if a few movie scores were weaved into that on DDY's own time, so what. I saw the GI/PO8 DVD. It isn't terrible,.....I mean, it was better than having my finger nails torn out. But if you think that version of the band, playing to what appeared to be a miniscule, unenthusiastic crowd (my son's Jr. High School has a bigger auditorium), with what amounts to a cheesy Windows 95 Screen Saver playing in the background, is worth all that plus the subsequent tumultuous fractured fan base, then YOU can have it. You ass, with your revisionist history, and instigation tactics.

Not really. Was an interesting read though. But I wouldn't consider it "the bible" on how everything went down. After all, Sterling never interviewed Dennis nor JY directly for it.

Kinda funny that the person who started this thread about a "revisionist history" now uses the term as an attempted insult.

The real history is that Dennis was fired and will never be a part of the band again. These "what if" threads like this one, and Toph's, are nothing more then people not liking the real history and wanting to fantasize about changing it.

Well, you can't....get over it.

See ....It's all yours.Dogs with spots.Guy with a lump on his back.Enjoy.You wanted it.

I've read it, have you?

Talk to Sterling. You are way off.

Yes,I have read it.Why would I want to talk to Sterling?
OK,I made it a little more colourful, the stuff about what Dennis said,
since the observer could not hear, but only see.But their description about Tommy and Dennis in a one way conversation
is there in the book alright, and therefore I am not way off.

Yea, I was pretty bummed when I heard Brave New World - especially after hearing the new tunes from RTP and GH2. What could have been. The production alone on BNW was far inferior to the sound/production of the new songs on GH2 and RTP, at least in my opinion anyway.

I don't agree... Everything's Cool was a killer song. Big production and heavy. Heavy Water also sounded great. Dennis songs were decent with the exception of Hip Hop. Fallen Angel was "okay". I thought Witness and Best New Face were also good tunes as was Goodbye Roseland.

There are some bad songs on it, but most of them were decent.

The album sucked. It was a joke. Worst album ever put out by the band.

Worse than Styx I??? I don't think so. It is far from a perfect album and Hip Hop is probably the worst Styx song ever and Homewrecker set that bar really low, but Dennis beat it out.

Funny how JY's songs have always been my least favorite and his first two solo albums should have been aborted and flushed. Then he comes up with a really good record with Raised by Wolves and has the best songs on BNW and Cyclorama. I think Glen Burtnik had a really positive infulence on him.

Heavy Water and These Are the Times are my two favorites off those albums. Just my opinion.

Funny you should mention that.Yes this chapter, where Tommy ends up not being able to get a word in,
is called 'Did you say something'.What are the odds?
Baron ,did you read that chapter yet? Page 294

It grew on me. The chorus isn't all that strong, but it's different.
