One of Tommy Shaw's best buds and one of Styx's tour partners this year made an ass out of himself once again.
Ted Nugent...What an idiot....
Lesson in who you associate yourself with.....

you really are clueless arent you? there is nothing new at all about ted's point of view from a political standpoint.....if he made an ass out fo himself now then he does almost daily because he is extremely outspoken on politics.
and how in god's name can it be a reflection on tommy or styx regarding how ted feels about something?

It can't, and it isn't. The entire band are staunch democrats anyway.
Toph thinks that only people who think exactly alike can associate with each other.

Yes Ted can be an idiot, listen to him and you know. Right or wrong he is out spoke for what he believes in. But that has nothing to do with Tommy.

This isn't even worthy enough to whine about. Good Lord.

Reminds me of when Tommy talked about when he agreed with Dennis to stop mocking Babe at DY concerts because he did not realize how much of an affect it would have on Dennis...and ended with "but I can't control what Ted does.," or something similar to that.

I only heard a clip of Ted from the Howard Stern show where he said there were criminals high up in our government. He's dead-on right about that. But I don't know what else he said. Either way, it has nothing to do with Styx.

Let's not forget,Dennis went to play 'A night at the proms' (or whatever it was called),
in a country that started 2 world wars.

It's really not; both of these "association" theories are fucking retarded.

knew this was coming, all the DeYoung peeps are freaking out (or using it as an excuse) and associating Ted's comments with Styx.
Froy's calling on people to boycott the tour, etc.
God people, seriously- Ted's an idiot. Everybody with a brain knows the guy's a loon. Styx is not supporting Ted's comments and Tommy's about as far left and peace-loving as you can get.
Seriously, keep it in perspective folks, or get some mental therapy.
It's just rocknroll. Ted's an idiot. Always was.
Remember, this is the guy who basically got a parent to sign away their 14 year old to him.
I really don't think that means Tommy and crew are behind him 100%.
They thought "hey, let's sell some tickets" not "hey, let's do something that many people will find distasteful".
They are right to not comment on it.

No. One is retarded - the other is legitimate. The DeYoung association would only be similar if Hitler was his opening act. If Tommy wants to hang out with Ted then that is his business, but it does reflect on him, no doubt.

You are absolutely right on the "let's sell some tickets" piece - that is all this band and its manager cares about.

Guys MUSIC IS A BUSINESS. SELLING TICKETS IS WHAT IT'S ABOUT. Froy made the same comments (it's about the money) to me yesterday. The guys aren't touring for "The love of the music. And bringing it to the people... man". They're touring non-stop because it's the music BUSINESS. Big shock, it's a business for DENNIS too.
I guarantee you that nobody in the STYX/REO camp is happy over the Ted thing other than "Here's some coverage".
Tommy probably figured Ted had grown up a bit and would be able to handle the spotlight without turning in to Limbaugh with a Guitar. He was wrong. It happens.
The hate you guys spew at the band is incredible. If you don't like Styx, don't support them. But to rail against them every day borders on psychotic.

Now now Bry, not all of us "DeYoung peeps" feel the same way. My personal opinion is that it's Ted's views and he's allowed to them, but I do not associate his views with others (including the current Styx).

Cool. By "DeYoung peeps" I mean the ones that constantly make it their life goal to deride ANYTHING Styx does simply because Dennis is not there. Not the ones that actually think about it logically. There are a couple here that're just crazy-over the top in their vehemence. It's so silly. I would think that we're all DeYoung peeps. I mean, how can you be a Styx fan and NOT like him? The thing is, there are two factions and so many people think that if they like one, they can't like the other. That's just dumb. What, are we 6?

If conservatives were as childish about outspoken liberal rockers as a lot of liberals seem to be about conservative rockers like Ted (even with the incredibly small sample size of conservative rockers that we have), there'd be no conservative music fans.
If you like his music, get over it. I have to with the lion's share of bands I enjoy (e.g., Springsteen, Crosby Stills & Nash, etc). If you don't, what's it to you anyway? I don't care what Kayne West's politics are because he's irrelevant to me.

All entertainers' political leanings are irrelevant. I pay money to see them perform, not to hear their views

Exactly. The only time they're relevant is if they rub it in my face at a show.
