Dennis might be 65 years old now, but he still sounds as good as he did during the heyday of Styx. That amazing voice is still pristine.
The band Dennis has now has changed from the band I saw him with 3 years ago. He's now added some of the Tommy Shaw sung songs to his set and the vocals are handled by guitarist August Zadra. I'd never seen August before, but the guy is not only a good guitarist and performe, but he absolutely nails the Shaw tunes. You'd have to look twice if you weren't paying attention.
Going into this show, I said I personally could do without the Shaw tunes. But after hearing August and seeing the reaction those songs got from the crowd, I can definitely understand why Dennis is doing them. And the show definitely rocks more with them included.
The only disappointment of the night was when a huge storm blew in out of nowhere about 3/4s of the way through the show. With heavy lightening and winds, the venue did the proper thing to announce a 15 minute delay right before the heavy rains arrived. After the rain finally did stop, there was too much water on the stage to finish the show.
