The more I listen too it, it sounds more like old styx during the wooden nickel years, especially with the harmonies. does anyone know if this song was written for "Cornerstone', or if it was an older demo, they brought back for the album. Its got a "Best thing" kinda vibe too it.

Tommy wasn't in the band during the wooden nickel years, and he wrote the song, so I doubt it is from way back.

What I know about the song comes from an interview done by Styx for Jim Ladd's "Innerview" series that aired nationwide on select radio stations back in the day. I have a copy on cassette that I recorded in 1979. Anyway, Tommy talks about NSN as being inspired by an affair he had while married to his first wife. The girl was French Canadian, and they'd ran off to Canada for a few days. Tommy was working on the song, and he asked that girl what the French translation of never say never was, and it just happened to fit in the song. That's all I've ever heard about that song.
