During the Street Collage section; the first person who speaks sounds a lot like DDY. Is that just a coincidence? You can tell the rest of the guys that speak aren't band members though.

I believe John Panozzo and JC are also on it. I think the one singing about Chicago is JC. I'll have to pull it out and listen but I believe JY is on it as well.

Oh and I meant to call the topic Movement for the Common Man, but for some reason I have Children of the Land on the brain. I've been listening to it lately.

Love that first album.Actually I love all the Wooden Nickle albums.
It's either gonna be the members of the band on that 'Street Collage', or some snippet from an old film or something.
Or at least that's what I have always thought.

I really like the first 4 albums as well. JC, JY and DDY... all their songs are great.

ALL of the "old men" speakers are the band members. I used to know the order. Dennis was first. JY speaks, too. It has been a long time since I listened to this song with that part in it.

Here's what my ears hear:

First man, Dennis "Well you see now"

2nd Man, JY "And if you're gettin' enough money where you don't have to work..."

3rd man, Johnny P "I had one fella get in, no offense to you gentlemen..."

4th man John C singing

I think Dennis commented that he didn't like that the engineer put that "street collage" in that piece. I thought it was kind of cool.

Thanks, Mike, for adding to the knowledge base on this. I knew it was the members of the band playing the old men.

I am not a fan of that interruption in the piece. When I put this on my iPod, I cut out that part. Left the sound of the EL in there and it sounds great without that talking segment that ruined the rhythm of the song medley, in my view.

I also hated the intro to "Lonely People" on "Paradise Theater". Ruined the flow of that recording as well, IMO. "My" iPod version left that out as well. 8)

I don't mind the Street Collage interruption. I agree that it does break up the continuity of an otherwise pretty progressive piece, but I still kinda like it. They do a good job of impersonating old men... especially the cabbie.
