Shock of the Day - I'm going

I posted months ago that I've been looking to take my boys (12 & 13) to their first concert. I don't know any current bands, and thanks to some brain washing, the boys actually prefer the music I listen to (Floyd, Genesis, Styx, Journey, ELO, etc.). On many occasions, I can hear them listening to the Styx Greatest Hits, on their own, on their I-pods. It always brings a smile, because it reminds me of the story I once shared about listening on my first "Sound Design" Walkman - I wasn't much older than they are now. Frankly, I had been waiting for the Eagles to come back around, since I didn't think a Roger Waters show was quite appropriate (plus I couldn't afford 4 tix).

So, while I am most certainly preferential to the original configuration, and I think that by far the best must was between Equinox through Paradise Theater, I've put aside my personal feelings on the matter, and I'm going to give it try, and take the boys to the Reading, PA show. I'm sure it will be fine - I'm hoping that since they are on their own, it'll be more than a 10 song set. Well, there you have it.

Awesome enjoy the show with your children. I always say it's best to see them on their own. They
usually have more time (no pun intended 8) ). I'll be seeing them this tuesday night i'll post a
report afterwards.

I have seen Styx many times since 1991. Believe it or not there was hatred even then towards Glen. It was a good show. Sure I missed Tommy but I was glad to see them out on the road again. Then in 96 John wasn't there and I missed his facial expressions, his drum fills, etc. Todd was a different kind of player and did a fine job. Now I miss Dennis being there but they still put on a good show. I choose not to go see them anymore for a number of factors. First I live in a small Florida town. Not many shows come here and now that I have a family road trips are out. Also the set list is basically the same over the last 10 years so I can watch dvd's or whatever and dont really have the desire to go to shows regardless of the artist. I would've seen the GI/PO8 but only if it had come to my town.

How was it? Better set since they were alone?

Looks like Styx is coming to the Ryman Auditorium this fall... considering tickets. I haven't been able to do many concerts this year with my schedule... Van Halen being the lone exception. Might make a nice treat. Wish I could get Dennis to come this way.
