Found this on examiner.com today. What do you all think? I can't comment on the Wooden Nickel albums, as I don't have any of them, but I thought the rest looked about right. The article also includes a link to a new interview with Lawrence.

I could agree with maybe the first 3 or 4, but Equinox should be at least #5 if not #4. Styx 2 should be higher and Cyclorama shouldn't be so close to the bottom. I think Styx I is another good album that deserves more accolades. Lastly, all the "best song" choices aren't mine for the most part. Not a real good list.

i wont argue much with the list because it's all subjective to begin with.....I could live with alot of it but my changes would include;

crystal ball moving up a few notches.

cyclorama moving up several notches

serpent is rising is actually my preferred wooden nickel record so it moves from the bottom up several spots.

big bang theory would be removed all together because its a covers album.

I generally agree. But he had a few misses

1 Grand Illusion
2 Pieces of Eight
3 Cyclorama - A highly underrated, controversial and lesser known album for the band
4 Equinox - He had this classic listed way too low. This is the album that broke it wide open for the band
5 Crystal Ball - I listen to this album more than Paradise Theater
6 Paradise Theater - One of their most popular albums. But this is the first album where I really noticed the split in style between the writers
7 Styx II - The best of the Wooden Nickel era
8 Serpent is Rising
9 Man of Miracles
10 Styx
11 Cornerstone - a waste of vinyl
12 Kilroy - an even bigger waste of vinyl
13 Edge of the Century - Not a comeback at all
14 Brave New World - What were they thinking!?
15 Big Bang Theory - A novelty

An album should be released that includes the singles: Little Suzie, It Takes Love, On My Way, Paradise, Dear John,Criminal Mind, I am the Walrus, Everything All The Time, Just Be & Difference In The World. I would enter these next to Crystal Ball @ # 9a. All are decent and some are VERY VERY good.

Nothing like keeping the facts right, when wanting to be taken seriously... From the article: "However it was the deeper album tracks which remain the best such as “Heavy Metal Poisoning” “Just Get Through This Night” and “Hard Times.” Anyone have the rare import version containing "Hard Times?" I've never heard it, and would love to. ;)

My rankings change all the time, but the first three usually stay the same. GI has been number one with a bullet for me since 7/7/77! I bought that 'sombitch' the day it came out!

1. The Grand Illusion
2. Pieces Of Eight
3. Paradise Theater
4. Equinox
5. Cornerstone (Mostly because of "Love In The Midnight" and "Borrowed Time").
6. Crystal Ball
7. Kilroy Was Here
8. Styx 2
9. Man Of Miracles
10. Brave New World
11. Edge Of The Century
12. Serpent Is Rising
13. Styx 1
I do not consider Big Bang or Cyclorama Styx albums. I like Cyclo (Except for the jabs at Dennis and Gowan's songs) but it isn't a Styx album. I don't give a shit what the lawsuit says. No Dennis, no Styx.
Brave New World would probably rank higher if the band had worked on it together, which clearly was not the case. Also, the reason I do not like Gowan's songs on Cyclo has nothing to do with who he "replaced" in the band. I just do not like his voice, plain and simple.
