if it's one thing I hope the digital model introduces it's the death of the greatest hits collection.

I'd say Styx Gold with it's only flaw being the absence of Don't Let it End.

I think I & II are more accurate as far as what the actual hits were. Gold has some filler - the Wooden Nickle material specifically.

That's what I like about it... the Wooden Nickel offerings. It seems more complete. Plus neither 1 or 2 contain Pieces of Eight. That's a deal killer right there.

I'd be more bullish on Gold if there hasn't been the obvious attempt to lose quite a few DDY tracks. DLIE is a huge miss as is LAFS.

They both have their pros and cons, but I would prolly lean slightly more towards, "Gold"(Styx Anthology:Come Sail Away). You must have the original "Lady". Sucks it doesn't have "Don't Let It End" or "Queen Of Spades", but just about everything else essential is there, and in order. "Greatest Hits: Part II" has some filler. "Superstars", "First Time", Haven't We Been Here Before", and "Love At First Sight". The latter two I personally enjoy, but "HWBHB" wasn't a hit in any shape or form, and "LAFS" was a lower end top 40 song that hasn't stood the test of time.

Styx has a singles collection that is a German Import that you can get off of Amazon(I think). I like it far far better than all the other greatest hits collections. It's a 2 disc package. It contains Borrowed Time, Boat On The River, Queen Of Spades, Rockin The Paradise, Light Up, Love At First Sight, Little Suzie and every hit they ever did including Dont Let It End. Not a clue of the cost or if it is still available but to me its their BEST greatest hits package. It's also re-mastered! I believe that it is call 'The Singles Collection'.
