T.O. DREAM THEATRE

Postby yogi » Thu Oct 04, 2012 10:34 pm

Andrew posted on his front news page today some letters that the band members sent out to their fans relating to the conclusion of their Dramatic Turn Of Events tour. I saw this show twice in Grand Prairie, TX. Once on the night the Texas Rangers choked off game 6 of the World Series and again last summer.

All I can say about this band is they are the finest group of musicians EVER put together in one band. Their music is complex, powerful, with great vocals and lyrics. From the guitar work to the keyboards from the drums to the vocals and lyrics they are the greates band I have ever heard on vinyl, CD and live. Their shows are events and and cant sing their praises high enough.

i agree 100%.........their latest cd is either the best or second best of their career (scenes from a memory being the other). i was unable to catch this tour live but I am hoping and praying we get a nice dvd out of it.

The irony of never, ever spelling the name of your favorite band correctly.

Thank you ArchtypeO.

I learn something dayley! Gotta carrie on the legacy that was froy.

Masque, if they combine both legs of the tour on a CD/DVD we will get every song from A Dramatic Turn Of Events. That album is epic as are: Octavarium, Images & Words, Metropolis Pt 2 Scenes From A Memory, Score & Systamatic Choas. Their music is soooo powerful. And to think I have been spelling their name wrong for years

Since your such a big fan you should know that they filmed two shows on 8/19 & 8/20 at Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina for a DVD.

Baron,

I do know that and that is great but that was just leg 2 of their tour. I also know the European shows were longer shows and between the 2 nights you got almost every song off of A Dramatic Turn Of Events. Just because it was filmed does not guarantee a CD & DVD. With Dream Theatre it usually does but they have never released a statement that the tour was going to be available on CD & DVD.

I sure hope it is!!

Besides the necklaces, and other knick nacks Dream Theater offers they give their fans what they REALLY want which is NEW music!!!

i do love all of those albums other than systematic chaos......that ones a bit frantic at times for me and i have listened to it less than most of the others....overall a dramatic turn of events and scenes from a memory are my two faves. but i do listen to pretty much all of the other stuff on a regular basis.

i freaking love the liquid tension experiment stuff too!

Have not heard any Liquid Tension Experiment. I may invest in some real soon.

I agree, Systematic Chaos is pretty frantic. But the song 'Ministry of the Lost Souls' may be my favorite song of all time. Its damn near as perfect a piece of music as there ever has been. Octavarium is my favorite album. I love practically every song on it. Metropolis Part 2 is the absolute best concept album I have ever heard. EVERY song on it is EXCELLENT. Add the song A Nightmare To Remember off of Black Clouds/ Silver Linings into the epic category as is their entire new album' A Dramatic Turn Of Events'. They have replaced Styx as my favorite band of all time.

Good ole yoggi.
Never been a fan of the prog metal genre, and don't know if I should bother getting Black clouds, silver linings from the libarry.
It doesn't have the cover disc with it,so there.
Which leads me to ....how do you feel about all the cover stuff that DT have been doing over the years??
Is it OK.?Some of the things they cover looks interesting.Guess i could check u-tube and see if it's there.
If not,I'll probably get over it.

Never purchased any of their cover stuff. On Black Clouds/Silver Linings I just purchased the disc that had their 6 new songs on it. I did not purchase the 3 disc Special Ed. I have no intrest in covers or instrumentals. Its not their best effort but 'A Nightmare to Remember' is one of their best songs ever. It comes in at over 16 minutes and its an EPIC track. That song alone is by far worth the purchase price. 'Schatterd Fortress' is another classic track on Black Clouds it has some lyrical and musical content from 'The Root Of All Evil'( Octavarium) on it which I just love. A Rite Of Passage and Wither are also decent efforts.

Their music is just awesome!!

the liquid tension stuff is truly incredible if you dig all instrumental music.

these walls off of octavarium is my epic tune from that album.......one of my favorite DT songs of all time.

a nightmare to remember is also one of my faves as well. i liked that whole album real well at first and then it kind of faded a bit but i still like it alot when i put it on.

i will have to go back and give SC another chance in light of what you are saying!

They played 'These Walls' on leg 1 of their Dramatic Turn Of Events tour. On leg 2 they replaced it with 'The Root of All Evil.

The shows were AWESOME. When we saw them last summer I took my 12 year old daughter. We move up to row 1 right against the stage. We were directly in front of Jordan for the entire show. Time and again Jordan would smile at her. After the show she received high 5's from Mike and James got a pictue of James & Jordan and was handed guitar picks from John Myung and John Petrucci. Petrucci is the best guitarist out there including the guitarists from Van Halen, AC/DC, Journey, Rush, whoever.... he's an animal out there.

None of those guys are even that extraordinarily good. They're just known for playing very famous songs/assocated with famous acts. Petrucci is way above them
