What would have made it?

When you add up the number of songs that Styx/Dennis DeYoung/Tommy Shaw has released since the original reunion in 1995, I'm betting there are close to 100 if not more
- GH 2, RTP, 7 Deadly, BNW, Cyclo, Music of Styx, OWE/Youth Orchestra, 100 years, assorted one of singles, etc.

Obviously, none of these 100+ has made a dent in the chart or really broken through in any large scale way. But here is the what if question of the day. It is 1980, Styx is at the heart of its popularity. Radio is what radio was in 1980 - a dominant top 40/pop oriented stations and then rock oriented stations. What song, in your mind, out of the 100 or so that have been recorded by Styx or solo, if any, would have broken through and been a big hit on the likes of Come Sail Away, Renegade, Best of Times, Babe, TMTOMH, etc. Tell us the song(s) and how big of an impact you think it would have made (i.e. chart peak etc.)

Here are 5 for me

While There's Still Time - Top 3 pop single
One With Everything - Huge Rock Track (#1); top 20 pop single
This Time Next Year - Top 10 Rock Track; top 20 pop single
Crossing The Rubicon - Top 10 Rock Track
Yes I Can - Top 10 pop single

I don't know about chart peak and impact, but
I think 'These are the times' is one off the most Styx sounding songs, after the break.
Mind you I never heard any of the solo albums except of Dennis'.
Does this count ?

No disrespect to john but one with everything would probably be a totally different tune.
Todd OWNS that song.

Paradise whould have reached #1.

On My Way, Little Suzie, A Place To Call My Own, Save Me, Everything is Cool, I believe in You, What Do You Want From This Life,Evertything All The Time, Goodbye Roseland and Who I Am would have easily charted.

Crossing The Rubicon & All In How You Say it would have easily been top 5 songs.

These Are The Time, Boomchild, and Dear John would have also gotten tons of airplay.

I've never heard any of DDY's solo stuff. I'm really partial to Tommy's 7DZ. I think Ocean and What Do You Want From Life would have received lots of radio play. (What Do You Want especially has a great hook in its catchy chorus.) Maybe not on Top 40 radio formats, but certainly on the AOR stations of the day. Anybody else miss those types of stations? I also love On My Way and One With Everything. Now, how high any of those would have charted? It's anybody's guess.
Sometimes it makes no sense at all.
