Dennis DeYoung Nashville concert review

Hi everyone:

I just saw Dennis in his Music of Styx show for the first time Friday night. For those of you who've not seen it yet, it's far, far better than any of his other solo shows - though I liked those, too. But this has a real "band" vibe. It's less like a Styx tribute and more like the music of Styx re-invented with new players. I was surprised at how much he allows his guitar players to re-interpret some of the parts. They are very, very impressive together. Dennis sang as well as he ever has in his life, and he's really got his keyboard chops at top level right now.

Here is the review I wrote for Ultimate Classic Rock: http://ultimateclassicrock.com/dennis-d ... rt-review/

Thanks, I hope everyone is doing well. I've been posting a lot less because I got a new job as the editor of The Boot.com, the country site, which just got acquired by Townsquare, who bought it from AOL. So I'm immersed in country music all day long, LOL.

Thanks for the review, Sterling! I bought front row tickets for the show when they went on sale but had forgotten that I had to attend a wedding in Asheville the same weekend. I tried to sell the tickets for weeks via stubhub and craigslist leading up to the show but had no takers, even at face value! I ended up giving them away to a neighbor the day before the show. I was really surprised not to receive any interest in front row tickets. How was attendance at the show?

Thanks for the review Sterling. If this was in fact just "The Music of Styx" and no Desert Moon or 100 Years from Now, I may have to make a point of seeing him again.

I was put off by his solo stuff and weak backup band (even with G. Burtnick) the 2 times I saw him. But maybe things are turning around.
