I have no idea how I missed these. Released in 2011. Does anyone have these? If so how does the remastering sound? I'm very interested in picking these up at some point.

Didnt know about Cornerstone - would love to see the entire A&M catalog - Equinox thru Edge on 180 vinyl.

Speaking of Edge, I special ordered it on vinyl back in 1990. I heard it came with a poster so I ordered it based on that. It didn't just a sleeve and a clear liner for the vinyl record. I have no idea what happened to it I no longer have it. I decided to see if I could find a used copy and sadly they sell for around $200! Apparently not many copies were made! Would love to find mine, I lost all of my Styx vinyl in one of my many moves across the country. I had them all, the Wooden Nickel originals, RCA cartoon cover reissues and all the A&M releases. The only one I have now is Paradise. Picked it up a few weeks ago when I started getting back into vinyl. Would also love to have a laser etching of that on 180 gram!! (oh, and it's not like I don't have them I have all the CD's including the Wooden Nickel Japanese versions that were remastered back in 98 or 99).

There's also a European only newish release of Cornerstone on vinyl, not the same as the Friday Music ones.

StyxCollector - Any rumors on Paradise Theatre being reissued on 180?

Right now I think Friday Music has GI, PO8 & Cornerstone. I can't find any reviews on them and cannot find what the layouts look like. They are only described as "gatefold covers". I am assuming the gatefold in GI is an image of the poster. PO8 probably looks like the original. What about Cornerstone? Same kind of packaging as the original? The ONLY review I could find of the remastered 180 gram vinyl was for GI and it was described as being "unlistenable and too bright, couldn't get past the first two songs". I would like more info before shelling money out on these because used copies that are taken care of sound good.

speaking of Vinyl, I just do not get it. I have had all of Styx stuff on record, tape, 8 track and CD and now in some type of digital format. I just do not get the vinyl...I think CD has the best sound out there, bar none. If, and that is a big word, if things are produced right it is amazing. I got so tired of cleaning my records, the scratches, skips and static at times were a pain.
Now just program your computer or cd player to go for hours of great music.

The interesting thing about CD VS. Vinyl is that we were made to believe that the CD can last forever with no change in quality. However, people are finding out that some of their CDs have developed "disc rot" and either play with defects or don't play at all. With vinyl, if you care and store it properly it can last a lifetime.

Rot or not,I do like the convenience of the cd and my digital library.
But just in case,I run home as fast as I can after purchase,to download the disc,before the rot sets in.
I love my I-Pod and the shuffle is almost always on,or the odd playlist.Perfect.
But I do have fond memories of collecting albums.Those were the days.

It hasn't stopped me from buying CDs. I buy music in different formats with the exception of downloads. That way of obtaining music never really interested me. I miss the days of having several music stores to choose from. Just being able to walk in and browse, see what's new and chat with other music lovers. Sitting in front of a monitor searching online just doesn't do it for me. Of all the formats that have come down the pike, I always enjoyed vinyl the most. Loved to see the artwork, read the liner notes and some of the colored vinyl and picture discs were cool.

I no longer buy cd's unless something catches my eye in the $5 bin. I buy iTunes or vinyl only. And I listen to vinyl at home and on my iPod. I can transfer the vinyl to iPod and I CANNOT tell a difference in sounds quality and a few pops here and there aren't annoying. Not to mention I can remove those pops, bring up the volume, etc and basically do my own remastering of sorts. Not to mention vinyl has better pictures on the covers and readable lyrics and booklets.

THe only thing I miss is the artwork on the albums and 45s.

Once you hear one again you'll miss the sound too. I had forgotten about the deep, rich sound of vinyl. CD's brought out the best in cymbals and high hats but vinyl has more bottom end on the older analog releases. Recently picked up Hendrix First Rays Of The New Rising Sun on vinyl remastered from the original analog tapes and never in my life have a heard vinyl sound so good.
