'She Cares' is a STYX song, just like 'First Time' is a Styx song. They all signed off on putting it on an album. Now if it had been released on Girls With Guns that would be a whole nother story. Speaking of solo Tommy have any of you heard Five Finger Death Punches cover of 'Little Girl World'????

Agree with you yogi about She Cares.It is pretty light weight.I have the same feeling about First Time and Babe.
So those 3 songs would be great solo material,but as has been said before,Styx covered a lot of ground,so hence the variety.
At least we don't have to listen to the songs we don't wanna listen to.
And thankfully there is a lot of other Styx to be had.
Maybe it's time for a poll soon.

Cannibal Corpse's cover beats any other hands down!

When Tommy screams out 'young girl says no to her fumbling beau' it broke new ground on the hard rock/speed metal scene.

Like he said in Behind The Music a 'He just wanted to rock, he was filled with so many rock songs and angst' Little Girl World had to be a GREAT GREAT release for the rock and roll demons that Dennis wouldnt let Tommy release on a Styx record. Lonely School was a classic rocker in the AC/DC mold but Little Girl World blew the doors smooth off of every house in my neighborhood.

Dennis puts two ballads on Cornerstone, one on Paradise Theater and one on Kilroy, and Tommy and JY lose their frickin' minds!
I love the harder, progressive stuff more than anyone, but these guys should have just stuck it out, stayed together and released 5 more albums in the 80's. MTV would have made them even bigger than they were. Journey had more ballads than Styx and nobody rags on them! I don't care what anyone says, Styx missed the biggest opportunity ever by breaking up while MTV was getting big. They had more talent than ANY of the other MTV bands that ended up getting huge because of MTV.

Tommy was as adult comtemporary/ballady as DDY with all the acoustic stuff.

Dennis still has a great voice to boot. what a waste.

I agree that it was the worst time for the band to split up. It's a shame that it came to that. But it's not surprising based on all the personalities involved. They ended up screwing themselves. One thing I can say though, I think Dennis' position not to just replace Tommy and move on was the right thing to do.
